Should Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Be Allowed To Speak @ Morehouse or Howard?

Strictly a discussion question but sparked a GREAT dialog today at the end of a business call today with some folks I know.

He's made comments in the past that cut deep to the transgressions that the U.S. has levied against Blacks and has called for Black Americans to "realize" and take action against the continued attacks on our freedoms.

Should he be given an opportunity to speak at an HBCU to explain/discuss his positions on that topic and others?

Just for discussion.

I dounno much about the guy..but i actually felt sum of what he was sayin..

son said....In Iran..we don't have homosexuals like in your country..i don't know what is this phenomenom!

Why? His people treat blacks just as bad as white do...so fuck him

Good point that you bring up... while I don't have any idea how blacks or people with dark skin are treated in Iran... I do know they are there.

Eons ago when I was in USAF basic training at Lackland AFB, Iranians were also training at our base. I saw there formations marching and noticed they had quite a few guys with dark skin. Not one or 2, but entire groups...for that reason, I gather there are quite a few dark skinned Iranians in that country.

The reason they don't have any homosexuals in Iran is because they execute'em as soon as they find em....

get real...thats what they mean when they say...nothing from nothing equals nothing.

that was the point of the question and thats why he answered the way he did....

CNN is playing "cheerleader" claiming Ahmadinejad was owned by Bollinger. Bollinger blind-sided Ahmadinejad with a low-blow introduction claiming he probably lacked the "intellectual courage" to field all the questions that the students would probably ask.

What the fuck are you asking someone to speak at your college for if you're going to set such a confrontational tone.

Back to the question I asked, I think it would be great for Ahmadinejad to address a Black University but the U.S. would snatch his credentials before that would ever happen.

Ahmadinejad is a smart and VERY clever orator and could probably start "The Revolution" by letting us know how deep the dick has been and will continue to be in us. The U.S. doesn't need that kind of trouble right now.

However, I still don't trust his nuclear intentions. That's for DAMN sure.

Of course he should. It's a damn good idea to invite 'your' 'enemy' on to your home soil and let him be listened to and questioned by 'your' people.

The old tradition of the 'hands off' approach was what contributed to many wars and conflicts over the decades due to lack of communication and understanding.

Here's hoping this will be a small step toward improving the tense and hostile relationship between the USA and Iran, and also will inspire talks between the leaders of these 2 countries to come to a comman understanding of what steps to take to slowly improve such a relationship.

I feel like he has an agenda behind his speaking...I stopped myself from going to hear his speech up at Columbia for that reason.

What would he gain from speaking at a black school? Is he looking for us to revolt? I think that Morehouse and Howard would protest...actually, the media attention would make the administration at those schools allow it regardless.

:angry:Without a doubt!! Why should I form my opinion about a person through the lens provided by white people. Whites have controlled the world mesaage forever and what is the overall condition of people of color???:smh::smh:

I'm glad to hear you feel that way...

But I have an even better idea... there are plenty of Iranians that now live here in the U.S. Why don't you get to know and talk to a few. Thats what I started doing years ago. Also, some of same Iranians living here in the U.S. still have relatives in Iran they still talk too.

And I can tell you this one key point that you don't hear in the media....

Iranians don't consider themselves Arabs... they prefer to be known as persians and they speak the languare called Farsi....

How do I know that... Iranians living here in the U.S. told me.

I agree with Ahamadinejad about the Palestinians. Palestine had nothing to do with the Jews being persecuted in Europe. So why should the Palestinians pay the price for what Hitler did to the Jews in Europe?

I swear, fuck white jews.

That's just how Bollinger is...if you ever hear him speak he says things like that...he's an intellectual snob who isn't afraid to speak his mind. Also, his constituents are mostly Jewish (this is Columbia Univ. we're talking about). I saw how they were protesting this firsthand yesterday...it looked like Saturday afternoon after Synagogue in Brooklyn there were so many at the school.

Incidently, it's a pain getting around on the the Subways at the moment between cleaning and this U.N. gen. assembly going on soon.

HE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO SPEAK AT AN HBCU. I KNOW THE GOVT WONT THOUGH BECAUSE THEY DAMN SURE DONT WANT ANY KIND OF HINT OF AN ALLIANCE OR HIDDEN SURPRISES.

Personally, I think Ahmadinejad could heavily facilitate that but he dances too much.

I'd rather he go ahead and say straight up, "Me and my people are ABSOLUTELY against a Jewish state and want the land for ourselves." as opposed to all the politicking he does. At least there would be no question of his position. At that point, perhaps a move towards an agreement could take place. It can't start with him double-talking.

That's what underminds his TRULY legitamit points like that the U.S. would rather "sell" non-military nuclear energy technology to Iran than share it. Folks won't heed shit like that because they think he's just "positioning" himself when it's likely VERY true.

D-Nice 1 (The Nice One)

Im not gonna lie. I sat there and thought to myself I dont REALLY disagree with everything he was saying. At the same time he really makes our President look like a dwarf intellectually. The only dumb thing he said that there were no gays in IRAN

Dude is a BEAST intellectually and kills it on shit that's fucking common folks in the U.S. but what sells him short is the shit that goes on over in Iran on his watch. "You can't throw stones..." as they say.

But, again, I wouldn't want him to have military nuclear capabilities. Believe that.....

I believe at this point, his only authorized travel was in New York City. If that restriction did not apply, I'm sure he would accept all invitations.

But you gotta keep on thing in mind.... a guy like this requires lots of security because he's got lots of people in this country that might try to do him harm....The security bill alone is gonna cost near a million. Next, he's gonna probably want to be "paid" a speakers fee as well he should. Heads of state will usually bite hard on any offer near a million bucks.

So... if you can get him authorized travel out of New York City and got at least 2 million layin around for traveling lecturers.... I'm sure he would be happy to oblige

Honestly, I think it would be worth twice that to hear him say what I think he would say.

Yeah... I thought that part was hilarious... Bollinger called the man a "chicken shit" while the whole world was watching....I bet that part gets edited out on Al-Jazera.

Hey...He was "offered" and paid the opportunity to speak... he did not have to take it.

This might surprise some for me to say this but I actually wrestled through listing to Imadinna jacket (Whoopi Goldberg called him that) through his translator and I think I come down on agreeing with AngryBlackMan. One reason why I'm deciding this is after listing to his speech/comments as translated by that annoying bitch, I switched to FoxNews and Shepard Smith was questioning John Bolton.

John Bolton gave his expected comments but then Shepard said some shit like, "we have to make sure fence sitters don't agree with Imadinna jacket, in this country and in Iran." I'm paraphrasing but my thought is, I know bullshit when I hear it. I know when a pollitician regardless of who it is is blowing smoke and who the fuck are you to determine for me how to think about an issue?

Imadinnajacket blew a lot of smoke but what he has to say is something that should be decided by the listener, not US politicians right or left wing ones.

But get ready for the spin machines.

I don't mean to come across as a "contrarian"... but the point I would like to make is one I stated earlier...

I've both met and worked with Iranians here in the U.S.

I don't know if you have done the same, but if you're concerned about what kind of information the media publishes... then it might be of help to get to know "personally" people from Iran.

The U.S. media as well as any media for that matter, is going to tell stories from there own point of view. That fact was true years ago and so far it has not changed.

Thats why I make it a point to talk directly with Mexicans about imimgrant issues( you will find some who came here illegally years ago as immigrants that will even say that the U.S. has too many illegal mexicans). I know people for South Korea, the middle east and even europe. While we may not agree on every issue, I can guarantee we always "both" learn something.

The most important being, we are all human beings and human beings don't always think the way there own government does.... for right or for wrong....

I say even better, there are plenty of Iranians living here in the U.S. Why not get to know and talk to them ....I've both met and worked with quite a few... the truth is, Iran is more theocracy than democracy. The President was elected but he still reports to the council of Mullahs. Iran lives under "Sharia" law which uses a religious code of conduct as opposed to a "civil" code fo conduct.

Iran has "Sharia" police that patrol the cities looking for individuals in violation of religious codes. Its worse than any other form of policing you might see in other countries.

Its far faster to get an opinion from someone who lived there... you will get some pretty good information from Iranians living here in the U.S. because quite a few still maintain contact with their relatives back in Iran.

out of all the problems in the world...homo's should be last on the list.
thats why the confused stay confused...they focus about religion, gays, terrorist, celebraties gossip, etc....but dont focus on whats really important.

if dude want to speak...let him speak.
no matter how evil he is...i still would like to hear what he had to say.
i wish i could listen to the words of all the Bush & crew enemies.
why should we be allowed to only listen to the lies of our own "leaders" & government.
Our so called leaders go to foreign countries and give BS speeches...so lets be fair...let the man come here a give a speech or two.

Sure they don't have homosexuals, but at the same time it's very common to see men in Iran publicly walking hand in hand, kissing each other and so forth. The only difference is that men who do that there don't identify as being gay like men do here.

I guess we can say he had problem in understanding his translator

Why shouldnt Iran have military nuclear capabilities? stop being an apologist for Isreal, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan and Iran are just itching to have maximum nuclean war heads pointed directly at Isreal and rightfully so, Isreal i mean is-it-real is allowed to break every U.N treaty and fuck with Lebenon and Palistine every chance they get, Isreal is just the U.S's middle east enforcer. Fuck them I say let Iran tool up
