Official 2026 NFL season Discussion Week 6!!!

The #Packers received $453.2M in national revenue from the NFL last season, meaning the league distributed roughly $14.5B across all 32 teams, up from $13.84B the year before.

Since they are publicly owned, the Packers must release their finances annually, giving a glimpse into the NFL’s massive revenue from media rights, sponsorships, licensing and more.

Ricky Pearsall will have a career, breakout season in 2026 if he can stay healthy (Which is a big if, given his history)Mike Evans should open up a lot of things for Pearsall.Pearsall and Brock Purdy have a great rapport. When Pearsall did play last year and was healthy, he was really dynamic.

IF Pearsall can actually stay healthy
Because that's a big IF

Wonder what did he exactly do and why others haven’t followed

Yeah the NFL has a pension program and like a 401K plan....The pension is based on the number of active games a player has played....I heard about this from my school's QB that played in the NFL for like 3 years and coached in the NFL for like 5

.

NFL player pensions are managed through the Bert Bell/Pete Rozelle NFL Player Retirement Plan, requiring players to earn three "credited seasons" to become vested. Key aspects include monthly lifetime distributions starting at age 55, benefit amounts scaling by era of service, and complementary programs like 401(k) matches and annuities. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Eligibility and Vesting
  • Credited Season: Achieved by being on a club's active/inactive roster, IR, or PUP list for at least 3 regular-season or post-season games.
  • Vesting Requirement: 3 credited seasons are required to qualify for baseline pension and insurance benefits. [3, 5]
Payout Structure and Credits
  • Normal Retirement Age: Benefits are safely payable for life starting at age 55 (reduced options can sometimes begin earlier for older era players).
  • Monthly Benefit Credits: Monthly payout value per credited season depends on the years played:
    • 1998–2011 service: $470 per month per credited season
    • 2012–2014 service: $560 per month per credited season
    • 2015–2017 service: $660 per month per credited season
    • 2018–2020+ service: $760+ per month per credited season [1, 3]
Additional Retirement & Health Plans
  • Player Annuity Program: Separate accounts funded by club contributions matching vested seasons, eligible for distribution post-football.
  • 401(k) & Matching: Features substantial club-matching contributions for active players.
  • Life & Medical Support: Includes programs like the Former Player Life Improvement Plan for joint replacements and the 88 Plan for dementia/ALS medical coverage. [8, 9]

I remembered you telling me about the NFL have a pension plan because i though they didn't when we hear these tragic stories about former NFL players being broke with no pension or health insurance.

These players need help after putting their bodies on the line.

I'm glad vick was smart and now he's set 4 life.

I want to hear great news like this for other former NFL players because they shouldn't have to struggle after their careers are over since the NFL should be taking care of them.
