Denver with Jokic would have never beaten the Spurs or the Lakers.

And Bruson squad wasn’t fucking with Cle or Miami during those periods. They need to chill.

Melo one of the greatest NBA players ever.

100% agree with @4 Dimensional. Melo is one of the best SF we have ever seen in the NBA....

I hate when I see this because theses folks act like Melo had the same GM in Denver/New York as Brunson and Jokic....

Tim Connelly drafted Nikola Jokic (41st in 2014) Jamal Murray (7th in 2016), Michael Porter Jr. (14th in 2018), and added Aaron Gordon in 2021. Built a roster that could actually compete

Brunson took a pay cut, but you have to give Leon Rose much credit with building this roster as well.....

Like if you have a bad GM, no matter how great you are, it's going to be hard to build a winning team.....

Bruce Bowen on Carter Bryant's moment with Mitch Johnson:

"Imma tell you this. So Pop has made this joke with me, he says 'Carter Bryant is so much better than you', and I said 'And he can jump higher too', and Pop fell out laughing at that.

But the reality this young man is talented. 19 years old, playing in the Western Conference Finals, trying to be the best he can be each and every time. Is willing to take on that moment of 'you say I'm guarding the top guy? OK, I'm all in'.

Now with that, when things don't go well for a 19 year old a lot of times they put even more pressure on themselves.

When I spoke to Carter, I said 'Carter man, do you know how many times Pop chewed my tail out on national television? We thought the cameras were off and he was still going!' I said 'It's to make you better', and he had no problem with that.

His thing was he wasn't playing well and he wants to play well. I take that from a young man that wants to be the best version of himself."

Thanks 4. People try to wipe Melo off the face of this NBA map for no reason at all. As a youngin, Melo saved me from “fan purgatory”. From We made the playoffs every year(including his rookie) he was here. He may not have won a chip but gotdamnit he had to get through Timmy and Spurs and/or Kobe and the Lakers every time like you said. And the team around him wasn’t that great either.

Eh. I care to see people go the line. Whether it’s by drawing a foul or flopping. Games shouldn’t be decided at the free throw line. If you gotta go out your way to get the call it shouldn’t be rewarded. So initiating contact isn’t necessarily a flop but it’s still trying to manipulate the refs to call a foul. Just ball. It’s not hard, just play ball. If there’s physicality then there will be fouls.

True but I highly doubt anybody takes Braun and his contract. I’m all for keeping Watson. Been rooting for bruh since day 1 but I just don’t see it happening.

Check out that bump in pay for Braun next season. Damn.

Absolutely. And his squad in Denver was decent asf. Billups, NeNe, Jr Smith, Kmart, etc..

But that 2008 Lakers squad was super legit (and today still under appreciated).

The 2000s had some killer squads in the west. But I tell you what. Melo’s career would have been different (in a good way) if the fuckin Pistons would have drafted him instead for DARKO :hithead:

Those milk cartons were never printed and they decided to let him stay missing.

My dad often jokes about our hometown Vancouver Grizzlies. How they fucked up drafting Big Country. Pops says - "I knew they messed up. Seeing him early in the season struggling running up and down the court. He had back issues or whatever .... but was chronically out of shape."

I mentioned to him that by playing well in the NCAA tourney he guaranteed himself an early retirement in his late-20s by only playing for a handful of years, lol.

* Always wish we had drafted more consumate pros like SHAREEF ABDUR-RAHIM. Class act.

Oh man. Big Country was a great college player but that’s as far as it went. During those times you had a lot of great college players that could not make it in the NBA. He was one. Christian Laettner, Juan Dixon, Sean May, Tyler Hansboro, etc.

Agreed. He had a few highlight moments in college, but never reached those heights in the pros. A few solid games where he showed his skill set in the pros (i.e. - high 30s / low 40s points outputs) ... but definitely not enough to validate being a Top 5 or 6 lottery pick.

Laettner was definitely overconfident and well-hated. Legit in college with those championship teams.

Juan Dixon ... last saw him with his wife or ex-wife on one of the Housewives shows back in the late-2010s.

Sean May ... haven't heard that name in years.

Tyler Hansboro ... lol ... Psycho T!

As for Laettner ... his teammate Cherokee Parks played for a short while here in Vancity.

That Billups squad was legit. Best squad he had.

Still don’t know what Dumars was thinking. Obviously as a Nuggets fan, I loved it but as an NBA fan Melo with that Pistons era would’ve been something to see and I think he would’ve had more respect on his name for sure.
