I heard this argument somewhere..... maybe on a podcast, but would the NBA playoffs be better competitively if they re-seeded the teams each round.....?

So would a Knicks vs Pistons and Cavs vs 76ers, be better 2nd round series in stead of the Knicks sweeping the 76ers in 4 games?

What would be the point of the regular season record then?

Regular schedule record would still matter. The first round would still act the same 1v8, 2v7...etc

But then the second round wouldn't automatically be set the old way

1/2 V 8/7
2V7

3V6
3/4 V 6/5

So for this year in the west for the second round, the 6th seed Timberwolves would face the 1 seed Thunder. Then the 2 seed Spurs would face the 4 seed Lakers:

1V6

2V4

So the seeding still matters but now the 1 seed is guaranteed to always face to lowest ranked team.
