UPDATE: Donald Trump Takes Office as the 47th US President

It seems like Roberts is against Trump.

Coney Barrett likely as well.

But what was surprising is even Gorsuch, seems set to go against Trump here.

While Alito, Thomas and Kavanaugh always toe the line for Trump, Gorsuch normally does as well and Roberts and Barrett become the only swing votes.

To see Gorsuch shift here is significant, it means one of two things:

1) He is alarmed by the expansion of Presidential powers and wants to reel it in.

2) He sees the end of the MAGA movement and Trump’s quest for power and wants to flee the ship before it sinks - especially if future Congresses start reviewing judicial ethics during this time.

Either way, it’s likely that Trump’s tariffs get slapped down entirely here.

He’ll try again under different regulations, but there aren’t many with teeth that will allow him to do this without Congress.

These fucking fools have trashed the economy and the reputation of the judiciary. DOJ and other

judiciary agencies are going to have to prosecute their way out of this and believe me, that won't be easy.

For whatever reason knights templar comes to mind.

Wait until they actually vote/rule on it

Democrats’ new ~affordability theory of everything~ allows them to shift from cultural issues to economic issues, which not only meets more voters where they are but also allows for more heterogeneity and experimentation at the local/policy level.

IOW: Democrats can use AFFORDABILITY as a kind of tentpole theme to be united at the macro level (cost of living is too high, and Trump is to blame) and diverse at the local level (Mamdani: socialist policies, Spanberger: definitely-not-socialist policies). It’s much harder for this sort of policy diversity on emotional cultural issues, which tend to elicit calls for excommunication.

Republicans have long worried that -- once Trump is gone -- the college graduates whom he alienated will remain Democrats, while the disengaged voters whom he mobilized will stop turning out.

The 2025 election results make that scenario more plausible..

Time to put grandpa in a home.

@BlackGoku - you voted for this?

I did...but the exit polls are saying that the gap was closer than they thought. I'm going to start getting more involved in watching to see where this money goes though because Action NC made some good points in there dissent about money that has been wasted in the past.

Also, Charlotte is not there with Atlanta and I don't think we will get there as the city of the south. First of all, we gotta get more people like you to become Panther fans.

I hate when they come with this bullshit narrative. Inner city violence pales in comparison to the historical murder and mayhem that white people in this country have practiced against anyone that doesn’t look like them from the inception of this nation and continue to do so. Inner City violence, while televised more for obvious reasons, disproportionately affects black people themselves more than any other racial group and is the result of poverty and disenfranchisement. Much like the Italian and Irish immigrants communities that were forced into ghettos and formed organized crime. The only difference is that those groups were eventually invited to the table of whiteness. Something blacks, will never receive.
