The Jordan Peele-produced psychological horror film set in the world of football has revealed its official title — Him — and a Sept. 19, 2025 release date in theaters. Universal and Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions announced the news Thursday.

Justin Tipping is directing the movie, which stars Marlon Wayans as a legendary quarterback tasked with training a rising young athlete, played by Tyriq Withers, who goes to train at the aging athlete’s isolated compound. The film’s working title was GOAT.

The film also stars Julia Fox, Tim Heidecker, comedian Jim Jefferies, and hip hop phenoms Guapdad 4000 and Grammy nominee Tierra Whack, both in their feature film debuts.
Him is from an acclaimed Blacklist script by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, creators of the sci-fi series Limetown. Peele will produce along with Ian Cooper, Win Rosenfeld and Jamal Watson for Monkeypaw. David Kern and Monkeypaw’s Kate Oh are executive producing.

From Oscar® winner Jordan Peele and Monkeypaw Productions, producers of the landmark horror films Get Out, Us, Candyman and Nope, comes a blood-chilling journey into the inner sanctum of fame, power and the pursuit of excellence at any cost.

From an acclaimed Black List screenplay by Zack Akers & Skip Bronkie (creators of the sci-fi crime series Limetown), HIM centers on a promising young football player, invited to train at the isolated compound of a dynasty team’s aging QB1.

Peele burst onto the scene as a director with the original psychological horror film Get Out, which transformed into a box office sensation for Universal. He’s gone on to direct or produce three more films for the studio via Monkeypaw; Us, Candyman and Nope.

Much as Get Out exposed racism in chilling fashion, Him promises to deliver a “blood-chilling journey into the inner sanctum of fame, power and the pursuit of excellence at any cost,” according to Universal’s announcement.

In addition to Him, Monkeypaw has an untitled Peele-directed feature in the works at Universal.

I think the pressure of following Get Out got to him a little.

The thread title is a little misleading because Peele is not directing this one.
Or sometimes you specialize in one dish and don't need to venture off to others . Get out might been his lasagna.. he attempting to make the Mac and cheese and potato salad when everyone just need him to make the lasagna

Hasn't all of his films been based on horror? Maybe I missed one or something.

I think he has to be a careful though. He doesn't want to become another M.Night Shyamalan. I think you can focus on one type of genre too much and people come away let down. Because you can never live up to that first film. Everything doesn't have to have an epic plot twist at the end. For the record I have liked most of his films.

Peele is extremely talented. And could easily switch it up and do other genres of movies. Horror seems to be his passion at the moment.

I meant get out was his lasagna aka his only good dish… us was trash and definitely wasn’t feeling stingray in the sky

I didn't really feel US either. It's prob the one I disliked the most. I thought Nope was ok. The back story of the black cowboys, and how that monkey flipped the fuck out. Where some of the highlights for me in that film. It was the ending that was a big let down. Felt cheesy and uninspiring. Something M.Night Shyamalan would do.

He could easily flip a few of his skits into a movie. Something I wouldn't usually say, but dude is talented enough to do it. That racist zombie skit is a gold mine if you ask me. Flesh out some details and come up with a good script. And you have a nice little horror comedy.

I can’t really speak on his comedic talents cause I didn’t watch his show and maybe saw a handful of skits over the yrs.. all I know he batting 1 for 3 right now with his 3 flicks.

He's producing the movie, not directing it.

THE NFL,COLLEGE,POP WARNER AIN'T GOING TO LIKE THIS AND ITS GOING TO LEAD TO TALKING .....IT'S GOING TO GO FROM THE OWNERS/TEAMS,TO THE PLAYERS TO THE PEOPLE THAT SUPPORT SUCH A BRUTAL SPORT.

I WOULDN'T BE SHOCKED IF THIS GETS DELAYED

Marlon needs to stick with acting. I'm shocked anyone is buying tickets to see his "comedy". Hot, steaming basura
i agree, he needs to retire from comedy and do more serious roles in movies and TV shows because he does has range as an actor especially with him doing a great job on Bel-Air playing that Father role.
