"Let himself go" implies he was in better shape before-- Do we know that to be the case? I thought he was never in great shape and just good enough that he didn't have to be and obviously not interested in maxing out his potential. (Based on you saying "again" I assume you know more about his past than I do-- I don't recall him ever being fit as an NBA player but I didn't pay close attention to him early on.)

Good for him to, heading into his first full season in LA, abandon his Diesel-like ways and adopt a more Mamba-like mentality.
