Still a little bit better. As the #1 Draymond fan here, I constantly emphasize that defense matters too. Mutombo's numbers weren't much higher than Yao's but we all know Mutombo was a legendary defensive force so I'm sure he had more blocks and more impact.
There's no reason to believe Thomas didn't earn his slot, is there? I don't think anyone would even argue that Yao Ming's all-star appearances were based on his actual play.
