Voice is none spectacular but I can dig her vibe.

She has aged well
. Her background singers were not familiar with that material, they missed a few points, and Amerie was out of breathe. It happens, can't win them all.

She told the story on the JBP, she was signed to a producer that was signed to their same label at the time.
Rich was trying to get "his sound" out there and expand his catalog (and get paid).
In the interview she says she helped him fine tune it to what that sound was on "All I Have." So ideally it was "their sound," and she hints that that is why the sound didn't work with those others.
