I'm not sure if the NBA plans on doing that because they will tell you that injuries have always been a part of the game. Furthermore, they have been using an 82 game schedule since 1967 -1968 (that's roughly 57 years), and I believe this is the major problem with the idea of shortening the season and the playoffs.I'm wondering when they're gonna shorten the regular season games because it's only a matter of time with all these injuries happening to superstar players.
The NBA probably has the highest average salaries for players and I believe a portion of that money is generated from television revenue (TNT, ABC, ESPN, The NBA Channel, NBA League Pass, Amazon Prime Video 2025). So, I'm thinking the more games they air on television, the more money.
