UPDATE: Donald Trump Takes Office as the 47th US President

This here is exactly why Democrats lost. If you refuse to hear out where you fucked up, what message does that send? Secondly, how exactly do you learn from your mistakes? And third, who on earth would vote for you? People do not resonate with far left liberal ideologies. The faster Democrats understand that, the faster they can heal from this and move on. Blaming others is a historically Red move. I know it’s raw right now so I’ll give some grace but you’re better than that.
Then why was Bernie so popular? He is way more far left than the moderate Democrats.

He actually wasn't that popular. He was popular to talk about but when it came to votes not so much. The only reason he was or seen as popular as he did was because he convinced a lot of very online people that both sides are the same and they would constantly talk about him online. But when I would get into arguments with them I would always ask the same question when they would bring up things like a survey or likes or tweets it always came back to the same thing none of that shit translated to votes.

To be clear both of Bernie Sanders losses were record-breaking losses when it came to democratic primaries.

Nah, in the primaries he was on fire. This was especially true in 2016. Watch Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 11/9 to see how he was treated.

Now I can understand why the Dems were so petty since Bernie isn't actually affiliated with the Democratic party but he was popular across demographics.

Tell that BITCH TO GO!!!!!!!

A whole bunch of Hispanics who think that Trump wasn't talking about them or their families are about to find out he sure was talking about them and their families. Black people do not lift a finger to help any one of them. I sit on here more than one occasion how racist Hispanic people are and now they're going to find out that they're not as white as they like to think they are.

As long as they participated in the process, that's all you can ask of them.....

I wonder how many colleges are offering mental health services?? I am sure there are some students feeling rough today

Thef def felt like they should have the day off, so I spent the entire class period discussing the elections, the system, their future, and how to navigate certain things.

The main thing is to let them know they aren’t alone in how they feel.

Reminds me of an interview I read of a German lady who was around during Hitler's rise. She told her Jewish neighbor that her and her family should leave while they still had the means to do so. She said neighbor told her, "Oh, no. We're educated and well off. They're not coming for us; they're coming for the poor and uneducated ones." She said later on, she cried as she looked out the window and watched them take her neighbor and her family away.

His ideas weren’t as far fetched as it seems. Adequate access to healthcare, lowering prescription drugs, paid family leave, the right to education, union work etc. These aren’t considered far left ideologies. Many moderates agree with this stance as bare minimum criteria.

What’s far left however is the LGBTQ movement and that not only being a choice, but it being rammed down everyone’s throats. Once you engage in language that allows natural born men to be considered women and vice versa, you’ve infringed on the basic human right of freedom to decline with impunity.

You don’t think that rhetoric is enough to alienate a populous instantaneously? Particularly Americans? One of the most rebellious populations out there?

Democrats didn’t do nothing to their self. American people did this to their selves.

Bro you know where I stand on these things.

Democrats have to have a serious by myself meeting.

They messed up period.

There is no shame to admit that. It's the only way you can improve and get better.

Trust and believe the Republicans did that when Trump didn't get a second straight term.

Dems f**ked up. They got detached unrealistic aloof privileged and forget who THEY NEEDED.

ALL THAT doesn't mean that the modern American constituency isn't sh*t.

Both things can be true at the same time.

But it's much more important for Dems to understand where they are and where they want to be and most importantly WHAT THEY NEED TO DO TO GET THERE.

America Re-elects ‘King Gorge III’’
By Kyla Jenée Lacey November 6, 2024

In a stunning upset, Donald J. Trump has once again made America hate again, with a resurgence as nasty and meteoric as the reuse of the R-word. A country once founded on the principles of escaping religious and political tyranny has now fully transformed itself into the villain it fought against in the movies.

America has now become a bigger international embarrassment than when the United States took home the bronze in men’s basketball in 2004.

Once the land of “give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses,” is now the country that blames its hard times on the people who seek shelter and not the people who control the rent on those shelters.

In the last 24 hours, the American Dream has once again manifested itself into an American nightmare, but this time with much more fuel to the fire. A country whose greatest f*ckups have been white men was too afraid to deviate from its normal path of destruction and elect the daughter of Indian and Jamaican immigrants. Instead, it elected a man who was married to two immigrants, one who was here illegally at one point, and his running mate whose wife’s heritage is rarely spoken about. The country that once welcomed people with open arms is now arming itself with hate and derision. A prosecuting attorney lost the election to a 34-time convicted felon because racism is more important than quality of life, and being alt-right is more important than doing the right thing.

Americans have long had the privilege of being shielded from great destruction compared to other countries. With the exception of the Great Depression, the United States, save marginalized groups, has not known serious misfortune in quite some time. Other than Pearl Harbor (which was known about before the attack), there has only been one other attack on U.S. soil, and that was Sept.11.

Now, with the despotic trigger-happy tyrant once again at the helm, no second-term worries to hold him back, a Republican-backed Congress and a conservative Supreme Court, diplomacy does not have to be a thing for diplomats. Project 2025 will be well underway, and those same people who were afraid of an immigrant in another state taking their job will be in for the rudest awakening when their CEO automates or outsources their job.

Those of us who can afford groceries will have to worry about the quality of food due to the lack of regulations and disbanding of the FDA. If you get sick from your food, good luck getting medical care with stripped healthcare. The land of the free is now the land of the mandated but not regulated. We have become everything we were taught to hate in history books, and our children will not even have access to enough history books to know that. A country that once fought fascism, or at least told us it did, is now proudly rubbing elbows with Nazis. Racism has done a great job of hiding behind Christianity because abortion was sold as the greatest evil, an evil that could only be defeated by electing someone who has been accused of sexual assault by dozens of women.

Our economy is now in the hands of someone who has been convicted of fraud. Our children’s education is in the hands of someone who looked up at the sun during a solar eclipse. Our daughters’ futures are in the hands of someone who wants to use those same hands to grab them by their pussies. Our sons’ lives are in the hands of someone who wants to give police officers total immunity.

America has become the thing she swore she would never be. America failed the open notes test, and every class, except the rich, will be left behind.

Listen, the Democrats did not do anything wrong. It’s just American racism took over so we think because I’m beginning to have suspicions about some of this vote counts around the country especially what happened in North Carolina. Again Democrats did the best they could do especially against a fucking criminal. America cannot go around and talk about nobody else’s criminal president anymore

Yeah white and white people is going to get the full brunt of this especially the middle class and poor ones so my people we ain’t marching with them. We don’t have nothing to do with them anymore. I’m done.

I disagree.

Republicans all got behind two things - worship Trump and hate everyone not a straight white man.

What's the agenda that unites all of the parts of the Democratic coalition? The problem is our coalition is based off their own personal crusades and they're ot interested unless it gets met.

Tell me the policy that would have gotten 5 million dems off the couch and to the polls.

Those are left-wing agendas though. What's considered "radical" or "far left" changes like the wind. The Overton Window and other factors plays a role.

We're currently living in a country where states are fighting to roll back child labor laws, dismantling unions and laws that protect the safety of workers. In a country like that, even the reforms of the 20s are "radical."

The LGBT stuff is just a silly culture war issue. I still don't believe it had that big of an effect on the election but even if it did, there are far worse things in store even if you believe those issues are important.

BTW, polling consistently shows the "far left agenda" is popular with Americans.
