I'll expound on this later, but you are right we are not growing and it is no surprise.
I'm going to make a sticky on this in the next 4-7 days
You have to have an open forum with no need for donations.
In order to do that you need to clean this forum up so you can get main stream advertisers.
If the first thing you see when you go into a forum is a chick with her ass totally out.
You have no chance of getting on with google ads or any other Ad company.
We will need to hide all of the sex shit in a closed forum for old members only.
We will have to clean the language up.
This was the first month I had to take some of my personal money, not much ($100)
and transfer it to my BGOL account to make sure my server fee doesn't have any problems.
I've known for the past 5-7 months this train cannot continue as it is currently constructed.
I don't need but X amount of money per month to keep this forum just as is.
If I get that X amount we can make the bitch free, if those who contribute don't care.
Like I said I'll have a sticky on this in the next week and we will go from there.

This is where I’m at. I started my account here back in 98 or so. I’ve survived multiple database attacks, countless trolls like Divine, Nzinga, Walter and some I can’t remember. I’ve met some good bros here, done business with folks, including the OP who is good peoples. I’ve shared tough moments here, happy moments here, and I have no intention of stopping. I honestly don’t see this place dying out like that but whatever happens, I’m grateful for it all.
This place has been in my life for a good part of it and I have no intent of stopping it.

BGOL is a national treasure, and a place EVERY black man would be lucky to be a part of.
BGOL was a place for US. The first time many, myself included, felt involved in a community who was just like us. For that, I will forever be eternally grateful to @HNIC .
Nearly 20 years ago I started lurking here as a freshman in high school because it had everything I felt I needed at the time, but as I grew I found out it had even more. On this forum I was able to figure out that it was ok to be a black atheist, That you could be something as prestigious as a medical doctor and still be cool(Although @Dr. Truth did pull that rug from under us a few years later it still meant a lot to me at a time
).
We had SO many career threads. I learned more here than I ever did from high school and college counselors. I am where I am in my career, working at a big tech company, and being in a position where I can chase my dreams because of threads on here. Hearing dudes like @water talk about programing and already having graduate degrees in Computer science even back then went a long way in showing me that I could also do it. Especially being the only black guy in my classes and program.JD walkers programming threads directly got me my first internship in 2010. These threads were so influential to me I still have them saved in bookmarks(https://www.bgol.us/forum/threads/an-ongoing-php-mysql-tutorial-thread-by-jd-walker.485088/)
Guys like @Deuterion were instrumental in me learning how the tech industry worked during the app store craze, and how strong he was about getting into the big tech companies on the ground floor. If I listened to him then I'd be retired today, but I am definitely comfortable based on what he told me. Like the example of this in a classical sense is you used to be able to come on BGOL and ask for homework help, and low key actually get it even though folks would clown you: https://www.bgol.us/forum/threads/c-final-help-again.448670/. You just wont see that anymore because we have all aged out, and the world is different. Back in the day everybody on this forum wanted to get it, and we were all happy about getting it. Obama years energy we all thought we were going to be superstar. That vibe has left. It went from dudes being hungry to just...complacent? Trying to get a check? Thats ok if dudes are super old now, but that energy is what was driving a lot of the good feelings we had.
We not only had career advice, but we had life advice. I am a lover of international women today because of how he taught us of how to travel as black men.
And we cant forget the porn. I remember sitting in homeroom in high school, wondering what @slam was posting. I've been on this bitch so long I remember when even @godofwine was posting videos. @lightbright was the homie. I remember asking him for a set from Atkexotics of the hairiest Indian lady ever that looked like my math professor Ms.Patel, and he hooked me up. No judgement. This is the place.

I don't post much on either one of but do sometimes, I just don't feel like commenting on anything.
I think most people on Boxden are young, dumbasses or trolls.

Realized this long ago.I don’t really care too much for what the youth are talking about. Not that I’m not open to new things, but you can get all that convo literally anywhere else online these days.
But this place has a fine wine feel to it. And it’s far more than just porn. Shit, porn might be one of the LAST things I’m in here for.
For movies, my fam constantly ask, “is anything new out? Any good bootleg copies out?” This is the first place I run to. Slam has the film department running like a well oiled machine. So much so that it’s a solid representation of what is out there in the world.
For news, I see shit on here well before legacy media gets ahold of it. This place breaks news pretty damn quick on that front. It’s a good aggregate of collectors in here.
This place really gives me a solid pulse on what’s happening on these streets. Real neighborhood barbershop that’s well established and doing well I feel.

Like I said, I visit all three and they all get the latest and greatest news. BGOL gets news fast due to great posters that keep us updated.
Here we get more genuine conversations, feedback and insight on how people think and feel. Everywhere else is just lacking that.

I think SOHH is how I found this place. I was on SOHH and AllHipHop. Somehow a thread or a link took me here.
I lurked for a year or two before I actually joined.

There was one vid with a Dark grainy screen cap. I clicked on that shit and it was bullet sitting a bar on a bench seat vip type area. no one else around him. The vid was dark ain't grainy. I was like oh there goes bitch ass bullet. Then the vid jumped to a dude rushed the person on the bench and now the person was nekkid and dude started assaulted the person on the bench. Then about 3 others came and started their assault. My slow ass was like damn they killing bullet's wife. Then I noticed one of the dudes' hands going up and down. Then I was like wait a fucking minute.....
I was throwing hints at him that he left the vid out but I wasn't outright saying it cause I wanted others to catch him. But dude was acting like an asshole, this went on for at least 10mins. Redline came in and basically said bruh, your gay vid, you forgot to make that shit private. The whole time we were all being cool, but bullet was being bullet. DJ came in and was at bullet's throat. He made the vid private then after getting cussed out he deleted the thread.
