Since WrestleDream is today I might as well do some predictions.
AEW WrestleDream 2024 Card
Zero Hour Preshow
ROH World Television Championship
Atlantis Jr. (c) vs. Brian Cage: Might as well keep the belt on Atlantis Jr. Cage just doesn't have it.
Winner: Atlantis Jr.
Zero Hour Preshow
MxM Collection vs. The Acclaimed: YAWN! TK has been building up MxM Collection so I'll go with them for the win.
Winner: MxM Collection
Zero Hour Preshow
Anna Jay vs. Harley Cameron: The new improved Anna should make easy work of Harley. After match it would be the perfect chance to bring Tay Melo back and turn on Anna setting up a Tay/Anna feud that they could extend for a few months.
Winner: Anna Jay
AEW World Tag Team Championships
Young Bucks (c) vs. Private Party: The Tag division is stale, and they need to do something to shake things up. It wouldn't shock me if they put the belts on Private Party. It doesn't benefit the division keeping the Bucks as champs. Let Private Party run with the belts for a while and see where it goes. If the Bucks somehow retain then have Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley beat the Bucks.
Winner: Private Party
2-out-of-3 Falls: Hologram vs. The Beast Mortos: These two have great chemistry together so I expect a good to great Lucha Libre style match. I think Hologram will suffer his first pin but end up winning 2 falls to 1. At some point TK will need to craft a storyline for Hologram so he can grow as a character. Right now he's just a Luchador putting on great matches.
Winner: Hologram
ROH World Championship
Mark Briscoe (c) vs. Chris Jericho: Jericho's stock has significantly decreased since year 1 of AEW. Mark Briscoe will retain but beating Jericho at this point does nothing for him. Briscoe needs a real blood feud over that title and Jericho isn't that guy to give it to him. Also why is Mark Briscoe allowed to defend the ROH World Championship on a AEW ppv but Athena can't defend hers? This has happened many times now. It's weird.
Winner: Mark Briscoe
Darby Allin vs. Brody King: This is just a match to give Darby a win in his home state. This doesn't belong on the card. I hate to say it but if the rumors are true at some point in the future they say TK is gonna give Darby a AEW World Title run.
Winner: Darby Allin
TNT Championship
Jack Perry (c) vs. Katsuyori Shibata: I think Perry has done the best work of his career since turning heel and developing the "Scapegoat" gimmick. His promos are better, his character work is better and his ring work is better. It's like night and day from the crap he was doing as Jungleboy. His TNT reign has been solid for the most part and I don't see Shibata as the one to end it anytime soon.
Winner: Jack Perry
"Hangman" Adam Page vs. "The Switchblade" Jay White: This will be an interesting match because it could go either way. Switchblade recently came back so it seems too soon for him to take a loss but Hangman has been doing some excellent character work, so you don't want him to take a loss either. This is a bad spot for Switchblade because Hangman has all the momentum right now. Got to go with Hangman.
Winner: Hangman Page
International Championship Three-Way
Will Ospreay (c) vs. Ricochet vs. Konosuke Takeshita: Most likely the match of the night if Ricochet doesn't half ass it. Ospreay and Takeshita always deliver in ppv matches. Ricochet needs to hold up his end of the bargain. This would be a perfect spot for Takeshita to win the title. He's been coming up short for too long. Time to crown dude.
Winner: Konosuke Takeshita
AEW Women's World Championship
Mariah May (c) vs. Willow Nightingale: Too soon to take the belt off of Mariah as they need to continue the long term story with Mina and Toni. I love Willow but it's not her time yet.
Winner: Mariah May
AEW World Championship
Bryan Danielson (c) vs. Jon Moxley: I guess this whole Moxley storyline reaches it's climax in this match. This is a weird spot because it's too soon for Danielson to lose but you've been building up this Moxley thing so if he loses what was the whole point? Is this where Shane McMahon shows up? I do like this as it's uncertain Danielson wins. Will be interesting to see where it goes but I'm going with Danielson.
Winner: Bryan Danielson
