One of the most sobering things to learn, and you'll see it the more you interact with them, is that the idea of "Black-Brown" unity is a myth. Black and brown communities in America live(d) together out of necessity, not out of mutual respect. There is contempt there, especially from certain groups such as Mexicans and Cubans. The reality is despite white behavior, the average white American has been taught to at least pretend respect for black people even when they dont. Its our shared culture with them. They grew up hearing about civil rights and its their culture of "We finally did the right thing by the darkies". Mexicans dont have that. They come from a culture where blacks are to be ridiculed at best, and spited in reality. With Cubans, Blacks are simply there to be a subservient class. It doesnt matter if you speak the language, if you are light skin, ect. Its their culture. Its why they had issues voting for Obama, and why they are acting funny style with Kamala despite her running against a man who proudly views them as subhuman.
Now, I still like latinas. I am a black man who was a kid in the 90's when they put them in our music videos, and was a teen in the 00's when West Coast Productions felt the need to stuff them in increasing numbers in black porn. So I have been trained to find them appealing, and I do. But this doesnt change the reality of the situation. You are never equal to them in their eyes, and at best you are a blip to them lightening the race, which is the goal of all minority groups not just them.
