Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese was not happy following her game against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever for several reasons.
Angel Reese had to deal with foul trouble all game long as she had to endure a 91-83 loss to Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on Sunday. She was also assessed a Flagrant 1 for a brutal hit she delivered to Clark’s head.

During her postgame press conference, Reese had some strong words about the officiating.
When asked about the flagrant foul, Reese said the referees “affected the game a lot tonight.”
“It was a basketball play. I can’t control the refs. They affected the game obviously a lot today,” she told reporters.

“I’m always going for the ball. Y’all are going to play that clip 20 times before Monday.”

“I guess some people got a special whistle,” Reese said.
In the contest, Angel Reese finished the game with 11 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists as she tied the WNBA rookie record with her sixth consecutive double-double. Unfortunately, she had a rough day from the field as she shot 4-of-13 from the field and was whistled for five fouls. She was also a force on defense, recording two steals and a blocked shot, per ESPN.
Chicago Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon defended Reese and her fellow rookie teammate Kamilla Cardoso:

“They play so hard down there and sometimes the whistle just doesn’t go your way,” Weatherspoon said. “They play hard, and that’s the most important thing is to play hard. They know how important that is for us to establish that identity. Tonight I thought they played their butts off. They’re very physical down there. Wish we could have gotten some calls here and there.”

Former ESPN commentator and current Controversial conservative pundit Jason Whitlock is no fan of Angel Reese, as he did not mince words for her in the aftermath of her comments about her place in women’s basketball.
Reese said that after her rivalry with Caitlin Clark, she deserves some credit for helping popularity of the WNBA.

‘It all started from the [2023 women’s] National Championship game, and I’ve been dealing with this for two years now. And understanding, yeah, negative things have probably been said about me, but honestly, I’ll take that because look where women’s basketball is,’ Reese said.
‘People are talking about women’s basketball, but you never would think that we’re talking about women’s basketball. People are pulling up to games.
‘We got celebrities coming to games, sold out arenas, just because of one single game. And just looking at that, I’ll take that role. I’ll take the bad guy role, and I’ll continue to take that on and be that for my teammates.
Whitlock to his platform and blasted Reese for her comments.

This Indiana Fever clash with the Chicago Sky wasn’t going to go quietly.
The Fever outlasted the Sky 91-83 in an eventful nationally televised matinee Sunday on CBS.
Clark was on the receiving end of multiple hard fouls from Sky standouts Angel Reese and Dana Evans, which will undoubtedly leave “the Clarkies” furious.
Among them is Barstool president Dave Portnoy.

Caitlin Clark reacts to Angel Reese’s flagrant foul as Sky rookie calls out refs

Portnoy posted video of a play in which Evans was called for a foul for having her arm hooked with Clark, whom Evans was defending up the floor.
Portnoy referred to it as “Chicago Sky doing Chicago Sky stuff” on X.
“One of these Fever girls, would you go up and knock these idiots out please?” Portnoy said in the video.
At the end of the clip, with the camera focused on Evans, Portnoy said, “Someone punch her in the face. Break her nose.”

This is on the heels of Clark asking people not to use her name to push their own agendas.
Later in the contest, Reese went up to block a shot on Clark and hit her across the head, which was called a foul and upgraded to a flagrant one, giving the Fever two free throws and possession.
Portnoy posted a video of that play and wrote, “Shocker. Angelo Reese and the Sky doing Angel Reese and Sky stuff.”
In the video he called the Sky the “dirtiest players in the game.”

This was the first meeting between the two clubs since their face-off two weeks ago, noted for Chennedy Carter’s hip-check on Clark.
Clark finished the game with 23 points, nine assists and eight rebounds while shooting 7-for-11 from the field and hitting three 3-pointers.
It’s one of the best efforts of her rookie campaign.

I watched that game. The refs called it as an F1, and not an F2. I still think it was intentional. Also, Dana Evans literally locked her arm into Clark's inside elbow as Clark was going for a lay-up shot. At least they called the foul.

This is intentional Assault to cause her a Career Ending Injury. The NBA needs to remove these players and do it quickly. There is no place for this. It is a GIFT to play sports as a Career... they need to be of high moral character or go clean sewer drains if any company would hire them to do that.

C.C. please throw the elbow even if you get ejected. Make the respect you, at this point it is all they will understand. C.C. is just too nice with the ball, but all too nice altogether and they are taking advantage of her. C.C. team needs to also step up and throw some cheap shots of their own.

Actually, you tell the 12th player on the team to get into the game. You tell her to smack Reese as hard as possible whenever you get a chance. You also let them know if they get a fine you will pay it.

Disagree. Why should she lower herself to their level. She can pay them back by continuing to play stellar ball and being classy. That will drive them nuts.

Angel Reese contends she was making basketball play on Caitlin Clark despite flagrant foul call

Angel Reese disagrees with flagrant foul for play on Caitlin Clark

Phil Taitt reports from the scene of the shooting in Inwood.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Angel Reese insisted all she did Sunday was make a basketball play against Caitlin Clark.
The former Iowa star agreed with her college rival.
But that isn't likely to defuse what happens next.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

After the Indiana Fever rookie wound up on the ground courtesy of Reese's right elbow striking Clark's head on a drive to the basket, the referees used replay review to upgrade the foul call to a flagrant-1 and almost assuredly setting off yet another debate about the contact Clark seems to be facing each game.
"I can't control the refs and they affected the game, obviously, a lot tonight," Reese said after finishing with 11 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and five fouls in the Chicago Sky's 91-83 loss at Indiana . "Y'all are probably going to play that clip like 20 times before Monday."
Naturally, it didn't take long for the highlight to start making the social media rounds.
But regardless of whether the elbow was intentional, the result was the same - Clark taking a head shot most sports leagues want to prevent.
Clark's response was to walk calmly to the free-throw line late in the third quarter, make both shots and help lead her team to its second straight victory before again downplaying the situation in her postgame news conference.

"It is what it is, you know, she's trying to make a play on the ball and get the block," Clark said after finishing with 23 points, nine assists and eight rebounds in her best all-around game as a pro. "I mean it happens and then those free throws when you have to shoot with nobody at the line are kind of hard. So I was just focusing on making those free throws."
Still, Sunday's scene was quite different from the one that played out two weeks earlier between these same teams in front of another sellout crowd in Indianapolis.

Back then, Sky guard Chennedy Carter hit Clark on an inbound play that sent the unsuspecting guard to the ground. Carter was tagged with an away-from-the-ball call, which resulted in one free throw and league officials later upgraded the call to a flagrant-1.
Fever fans serenaded Carter and Reese with cheers any time either was called for a foul in Sunday's rematch.

No, Fever coach Christie Sides wasn't happy to see her star player hit the deck yet again, but at least this time, she thought they got it right.
"The right call was made in that moment," Sides said. "Just make the right call in those moments, and we can move forward. But when we don't make the right call in those moments, that's when there's a problem and they made the right call tonight."
Reese, clearly, did not agree.
"I think we went up really strong a lot of times and didn't get a lot of calls," she said. "Going back and looking, I've seen a lot of calls that weren't made, I guess some people get a special whistle."

what did she do ?

Reese had another double-double and that flagrant wasn't brutal or a big deal. They always call flagrant if there is contact to the head.

This is the same thing that happened with Bird and magic when they came into the NBA in the 1979-80 season. This is the transitional moment for the WNBA that will boost it’s revenue and make way for more teams

CHICAGO — All those folks who doubted whether Angel Reese’s game would translate to the WNBA must feel pretty silly these days.

A month into the season, the No. 7 pick in the draft has answered that question definitively. She’s the only rookie to be averaging a double-double, with 12.3 points and 10.8 rebounds a game, and leads the entire league with 68 offensive boards.

And on Thursday, she became the first rookie in the WNBA’s 28-year history to record a double-double in seven consecutive games. The previous record was shared by Hall of Famer Tina Charles (2010) and Cindy Brown (1998).

Not one credible source is reporting on her losing endorsements....

Angel Reese endorsement deals
Reese benefitted from the NCAA's decision to allow players to earn revenue off their name, image, and likeness. The NIL rules made amateur athletes millionaires before signing a professional deal.

Some may never sign a professional contract, but Reese was able to live the best of both worlds. She racked up a $1.8 million NIL value in her senior year at LSU, which ranked eighth in all of college athletics and second in women's college hoops, according to On3.

Here are a few of the companies Reese signed endorsements with:
