MJ isn't gonna be respected as much with younger players. His game is very outdated and he never connected with 3 generations of ballers. You see Swaggy P already has him behind Kobe.
As far as the comparisons, that's just as much Jordan Brand desperately trying to stay relevant as anything. Last year it was Jimmy, this year it's Ant. MJ has to clout chase these young guys and playoff performing wings to sell shoes since he isn't tied to the game anymore in any capacity. It's been 26 years since his last chip.

Kanye West also does this with hot young producers. He will fly them in to his studio and learn their techniques and how to achieve their sound, use it for his album, then discard them when styles and taste change. It's how he's been able to stay relevant while switching styles numerous times.
