Any New Orleans folks up in here? Going to Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday this year of 2024

I'm going to Mardi Gras at Tuesday this year. I talked to somebody and they said that Slidell will be the better option then trying to get a hotel in Nawlins. That was right. I saved about 800 bucks

Did any of you guys live down there? If so, let a brother know some good shit, maybe even meet up for drinks or whatever the fuck, first round on me

Also need to know the Nawlins version of the 10 Crack Commandments so I don't end up as a goddamn statistic

1. slidell is a bit of travel. true you will save $$$ on hotel but if your going to into NO, you gonna have to pay for parking for whatever money you saved you gonna burn through.
2. Check the weather and dress accordingly. It may be hot one day, chilly the next.
3. Check the parage schedule. they are posted and gives you the times, routes etc. Decide which ones you gonna fuck with.
4. Lots of crowds, beads, titties and weird shit, so hopefully you are not easily offended.
5. Drinks are plenty but during mardi gras you gonna play for mardi gras drink prices. deal with it.
6. you going as a tourist so be aware like a tourist. stay in the tourist zone and get that tourist experience. If you want to go where the locals go, roll with a local, don't flash like you from out of town and fall in.
7. Plenty of bitches that come to party, strap up, don't get got, do you and keep it pushin. don't fall in love with the pussy.
8. Set a daily budget and stick with it. Easy for spending to get of hand during Mardi gras. Mardi Gras season is NO biggest $$$ and every year they go hard to separate you and your money but give you a helluva good time while they are doing it.

Everybody is going to give you good advice and I'll add this.

- Slidell is a prominently white and conservative suburb of New Orleans, be mindful of that.

- Don't go into the neighborhoods, you don't know if you're going into a high crime spot nor do you want to aggravate the natives.

- Women get a pass for flashing their breasts, but you'll get hemmed up if you try to flash your penis or take a piss on the streets and spend the rest of Carnival season in jail.

- Louisiana State Police will be in New Orleans to assist NOPD, (and a specialized troop will remain afterward to help with the crime) they are aggressive and are not bound by the consent decree. Be mindful of that.

- Mardi Gras ends at exactly 12am, Wednesday February 14 which is Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent, at this time it is tradition for the Mayor and Chief of Police to do a "sweep" of Bourbon street (Basically they just come down the streets on horses) and announce that Carnival season is over and that you need to get into a bar or your hotel.

I was trying to remember the name of the big hotel downtown that has the best buffet breakfast ever. Necessary as a safe place after a night of reveling.

Also about the boob flashing

The flashing is done on Bourbon Street and women will either flash at the balconies (which are available for rent) for beads and other times women on balconies will flash the crowd below.

As you would expect, people are drunk, high, and general male thirstiness will be in effect. Don't follow those crowds because this is when a small rush might happen and people get sandwiched together and this is also how you end up losing your wallet or dropping your phone.

Also, there'll be a ton of phones and cameras out to capture footage and you don't wanna get caught up in that shit either.

Bourbon Street is overrated. Only being around the tourist areas take away from the New Orleans experience. My favorite spot to catch the parades are around St. Charles from Josephine to Second street.

As long as you know how to carry yourself you won't have problem with the locals. Get out and get some local ratchet pussy. NO has the city feel but still keeps the black southern culture.

I've found it easier to come in from the south down around the Superdome. Parking can be found at the Riverwalk. We always post up at Don Leoncio Cigar bar at 430 Canal street to catch a few parades.

Check the parade routes and schedules. I recommend Zulu and Bachus. Hit Bourbon Street twice. Once during daylight hours and once at night. Disregard the strip clubs on Bourbon...trash. keep your head on a swivel on Bourbon and at those parades, those beads will knock the shit out of you. If you're a handsome mother fucker like me, bitches on the balcony want to throw beads at you and bitches on the street want to barter with you for certain beads...

NOPD said they stopped all plainclothes officers from stopping people due to that store getting robbed

I just thought of something, tell me if you believe it might work if I find a hotel employee, a hotel not too close but at the same time not too far from the City of New Orleans where the actions at.

How difficult would it be to get a hotel employee to get me a pass to park there all week for between $200 to $300?

That's less than I would be paying for parking during that week, and the employee could come up themselves a little bit. Basically that money would be to slide me a piece of paper saying I belong and look the other way. Do you think it would work?

This was mostly Mexicans coming into town for Mardi Gras trying to drift on St. Claude and St. Roch, they crashed into somebody and then drove off and somebody started shooting at them. Plus there were some spics and people of terrorist descent on the other side of town doing a "slide show".
