Blue Eye Samurai | Netflix on 11/3/2023

After Blue Eyes, I tried to watch Onimusha....I couldn't. I stopped after the first episode...Just not the same....the dialogue, the demon, the story, the characters...don't come anywhere close to Blue Eyes

It’s a hard watch cause Blue eye is just so superior. I’m actually shocked they dropped them both at the same time… I think that was the mistake.

Bro...

HOW THE F*CK DO THEY TOP WHAT WE JUST EXPERIENCED?

After what Netflix pulled today cancelling shadow and bone…. I really need them to pull a Dragon Prince and confirm 4 seasons…. I need this story complete.

Hell we still don’t know anything about the first white dude she killed and we still have two other white dudes that we don’t know shit about. Nothing… not even a hint.

Came to second this - Telling you fellas, if you'e got other anime in your queue, watch ALL of them first.

After Blue Eyes, you'll find yourself comparing to Blue Eyes, and you will be sad and dissapointed.

And it's not that the others are bad - Blue Eyes is...Just. That. Good.
Thats how I felt watching Invincible afterwards (I know its a different genre). It was hard watching the first 2 episodes because the animation was so subpar.

it's still pressure...

I have not seen a show ESPECIALLY animated fully capture the viewer into their world. I could have spent several episodes in every home, castle, town and fortress. I need to know how Kaji becomes a Madam, more on Mizu training and development into a master, a young sword maker, etc etc.

But they raised the bar SO DAMN high.

Can they maintain that level of excellence?

Let her hack and slash all the Fowlers out there. I was rooting for her to find them all in this one, but I’ll take a second season. Black folks don’t need to be in this storyline.

Yeah I don’t get what he was talking about…. Whiteness definitely wasn’t praised by the slants… I think that was the point. Hell they kept Fowler locked up in a isolated castle cause Japan has closed off the borders to the white devil. Fowler was only around cause of his connections. Her half whiteness was her curse. That’s why they viewed her as a monster. I don’t know what anime my man watched.

exactly

even today gaijin are tolerated
they love / appreciate foreign art and the artists
they really respect any with great skill
but that's as far as it goes

Wasn’t always the case.
still isn't the case - mixed kids still got issues growing up in Japan
only the extreme social politeness of Japanese puts a thin veneer over it

Alright so I finished episode 7 thinking.....

How the FUCK are they ending this?!

That episode.......got damn..... the twists, the score, the animation style and voice acting is really fucking good.......

I'm like damn it's late, I shouldn't stay up to watch this shit, but that (Next Episode) bar was running and then above it said 1 episode left .....

Man, I'm still processing that shit.....

Taigen, Akemi......Ringo my guy......

But the maid........the maid mfkr?!

All that hate and rage towards Fowler!

I'm shocked how superb of the show this series is. Blue Eye Samurai raised the bar. I can NOT wait for Season 2.

Is there any other Animae on NetFlix that's nearly as good as this and worth checking out?

I wish I hadn't seen this right now. Now I have to wait a year(?) to see more. I need this story to continue forthwith!!

Here's when it was announced. Of course covid

Damn....

Well like I said if a delay results in this level of insane quality?

All these other studios should have just taken the loses and used the extra time more wisely.

Because apparently more time only benefits the project (in some cases)

Massive endorsement by the legend Kojima

Just finished watching all 8 episodes of BLUE EYE SAMURAI! Well, everything is wonderful! Everything is all beautiful! Without a doubt, the best anime of the year! It is a visual work that transcends the common sense of animation! The new generation of CG-based animation reached a turning point with "Spider-Man: Spider-Verse (2018)" and reached maturity with "Arcane (2021)", but this tv series has reached the next level! "Is the avenging demon a demon or a samurai? Is it really a monster?" The theme and message are simple. The story is set in 17th century Edo (Tokyo), but it is also applicable to today's world. The characters are also well-designed! At first, I wasn't sure about Ringo, Taigen, and Akemi, I’m like “let alone the main character, Mizu!”. But as their backgrounds are told, I felt more and more sympathy for them and found them attractive. Highly recommended! If you don't watch it, you're missing out

The way that they were all in historically on Bwanna, you'd think Fox news would be all on it. I guess it wasn't dark enough

netflix "anime" is really average.

blue eye put netflix on the map for "anime."

i am to the point now if something isn't on blue eye, demon slayer, attack on titan level I am not interested.

Thats how I felt watching Invincible afterwards (I know its a different genre). It was hard watching the first 2 episodes because the animation was so subpar.

this is one of the reasons i stopped reading comics. the art work was so inconsistent each month. i gave up because it got so bad that it was distracting.
