- With this structure in place, which has been in place for generations now, what pathway would we have to take to finally get true 1st class citizenship and reparations?

We are STUCK. And we are tired of being stuck. And Kanye was saying 400 years sounded like a choice, which it was. Our ancestors chose to wait it out. Some chose to violently revolt, but the vast majority didn't, and we FINALLY got SOME freedom, but we were not made whole. So here we are waiting it out, and I believe some Black people are suffering from Stockholm Syndrome while others are saying if we can't beat them join them. We're trying to rationalize living among racists. And maybe be first in line for a House nigga position if we ever end up back in chains.
If you leave a bunch of rats in a cage they will turn violent on each other, shit and piss and there will be a messy situation. Similarly a lot of us are in that same messy situation and we need relief from this confinement.
White people have either intentionally or unintentionally created an art form out of perpetually throwing Black people under the bus.
So I came across the video because it was the same group that put out a video about white nationalists and some other topics. It is asked from a religious standpoint, but after I watched the video, I realized it was basically the same reason that black folks in general, regardless of religious affiliation, vote democrat and that these same dynamics still exist and are still playing out today.
It should put the rest the notion of both parties are the same. One group was on a mission to oppress black people, hence what happened after the Compromise of 1877and why black folks fled the south. Again, these same forces are in play today, and thanks to the backlash to Obama and the rise of Trump, they are no longer shamed into acting in secret.
The conclusion, from a biblical standpoint, was that neither party could be said to govern as instructed, implying another party is needed, which is something many here have voiced in the past.
That the dem or black agenda has not been 100% realized is because these forces are there opposing progress. Dems have not had unfettered power to implement change. When it has had both houses, there was not a veto proof majority. With the overturning of affirmative action, and the resulting lawsuits, what many have said they want: black people helping black people out side of government is in danger of being deemed illegal, because people didn't vote so dems could maintain power.
There are two lawsuits, one regarding assistance for black women in high risk pregnancies, and one for black investors giving grants to other black investors that were only brought because of the fact the SCOTUS overturned AA. And regardless of how they turn out, we will pay a penalty. If it is deemed that they cannot provide help based on race, then that tool for helping each other is taken away. If it is decided they can, then those same groups are going to say its ok to exclude black people from hiring or that there can be programs that target only white people.
The solution is to vote dem, give them large majorities. If someone isn't responsive, primary them and vote them out, but as long as the GOP can block or reverse everything every 2-4 years or put in place judges who value WS above equality and are working toward the Christian and white nationalist goals, you will never see progress in more than incremental steps.

I'm not saying don't expect much, but expectations have to be realistic. Right now there is no way to get reparations. We don't control the house. We only have 51 votes in the senate. They can't even get military promotions passed. There is a difference in not doing something because they refuse to do something, or are doing a bait and switch vs when they are being blocked or don't have the votes to pass it. The initial Build Back Better plan had a lot of stuff for black folks, including things for black maternal health that got stripped out when all they could pass was the infrastructure bill. However, what we got in the infrastructure bill is better than nothing at all. And maintaining what we have is much better than conceding power and losing ground by letting the GOP get in charge and roll back more rights.
What does this even mean? Of course voting becomes more discussed as the election gets closer. That’s no conspiracy. It’s like posting in a Xmas deals thread “Christmas must be close. Never fails.”
