Yeah, if they did smaller venues like ECW did back in the day, it would make for a more intimate experience, especially if they worked on booking and the writing of their stories, but they are trying to hotshot their promotion here stateside and it just isn't working on a weekly basis.

AEW is like DC to WWE's Marvel. Instead of taking their time and planning out their approach, they jump right into their super PPVs (Justice League) without fully fleshing out their wrestling universe through good storytelling, booking and weekly shows.

Thats why it needs to be a studio show, booking big venues for this show is a big waste of money.

I could see Chiampa getting some limited mid card title runs and maybe even a mid and top tier fued or two on Raw.

I don't see Gargano as anything but a mid-card talent with a big enough indy name that he can be used to put other stars over. I don't see many main card titles run for Mr. Johnny Wrestling.

Complete aside, but who the fuck thought Johnny Wrestling was a good nickname. If anything else, the generic nature of that nickname perfectly sums up the generic aspect of his main card character.
 
This is all fantastic news. Stardom's growth has been excellent and I'm happy to see they'll be doing another joint show with New Japan next year. Hopefully they work out something with AEW so we can get a Stardom presence at next year's "Forbidden Door".

I honestly don't care for either of them. They both belong back in NXT.
Chiampa just looks like a deflated HHH right now and has a boring character.
Gargano is just lame as fuck and gives off Young Bucks/Elite vibes whenever he's on TV cutting a promo.
 
I was going to suggest that they hold off on the Mercedes/Giulia match until NJPW Wrestle Kingdom next year but from what I just read they're not going to have any women's matches on the Wrestle Kingdom card. WTF!

I can't wait! Wrestle Kingdom has always been my favorite ppv of the year regardless of promotion. Hopefully Gedo does the right thing and gets the belt off of boring ass SANDA. Naito has to go over!

 
It looks great because of the velocity and force MIRAI generates from the lariat and the excellent sell job from Momo. Too many times when I see women do clotheslines the one receiving the clothesline doesn't sell it properly.

So far I give AEW the edge...

Although the choice of having Christian open the show was kind of meh, Cody's announcements weren't all that and the Bryan/Swerve match was better than Asuka/Perez.
