Wisdom Teeth Pull - Need some advice

Now that I'm 50, wisdom teeth are acting a freaking fool! Time to get these jawns removed.

Here is the deal, I hate dentist when pain is involved. Routine cleanings are cool no problem there. Any type of extraction that involves pain and needles I'm ready to fight.

I got good insurance, My HSA (Health Savings Account) got a nice chunk of paper so I'm not concerned with things insurance will cover and what they won't cover financially.

Anyone went under full anesthesia, laughing gas or other method where you are fully knocked out?

Would love to hear your unconscious experience during and after removal.

Once the teeth are out I'm good with recovery pain no matter how bad it is and taking meds till it calms down.

Doctor can't be digging in my mouth while I'm awake because pain will cause me to resist in a negative way. (You feel me?)

I welcome your replies.

Had my wisdom teeth taken out (only 2) in the summer of 2001.

Didn't experience any pain while they froze the area and I was alert.

First one was easily removed & the next was more deeply rooted, and ended up having my first and only cavity. "You want to keep it as a souvenir, or throw it in the trash?"

The other 2 wisdom teeth are more difficult to get to, and he said we'll just keep monitoring them over time in case there are any issues (none the past 20 plus years). He'll refer me to a specialist to get them removed, if it ever comes to that.

Went home and relaxed that afternoon. Just had 1 Advil or Tylenol to deal with some of the discomfort, but was otherwise fine.

I had all 4 removed at the same time but I was unconscious. Mine were impacted. The recovery was horrible I wasn't eating properly for a month. But I know people that have had their wisdom teeth removed and were eating steak the next day. I had a chipped tooth removed while I was conscious never again. You don't feel the pain but you feel the pressure and that is not pleasant. I had to get a crown after the removal and they had to drill the base into my jaw had local there as well but that wasn't as bad as the removal. But these were different times in my life with different dentists. I will say the quality of the dentist made a HUGE difference in the difficulty of the procedure. The crown guy was the bomb the tooth and wisdom tooth removal dentists were not and the experience was horrible.

No not to get them wisdom teeth taken out, getting put out fully is too risky unless you're just one of them types that can't take it in no way shape or form and you have to be tko'ed.Fine.

But I my joints taken out with the regular numbing meds,I was sweating bullets, nervous and ready to run but after it was over I was ok and two days afters with taking the meds I was back to normal.

If your 50 and you have all of your joints in your mouth and you don't have a fucked up grill...you're BLESSED cause there's so many motherfuckers men and women around with fake teeth, missing teeth, brown teeth, teeth look like knives or their fighting for room.lol

When I had one of the wisdom teeth removed that was more deeply rooted or impacted ... there was a loud crack. Sounded like my jaw had been broken. Dentist was like - "Nah, you're good ..." - definitely caught me off-guard though. That sound.

I personally have a wisdom teeth extraction horror story, lol. Most other folks I've talked to were put to sleep and had no issues. I'll just say that i was not put to sleep nor did the doctor fully numb my jaw bc they hit the state legal anesthesia amount limit trying to find the right nerve (which they did not find).

Had all four removed in back in 1999.
I was up the whole time but couldn't feel any pain, just pressure like others said above.
The only part I hated was trying to swallow the pain pills with a swollen/numb mouth during recovery.
It was frustrating as fuck trying to swallow the vicodin because it kept melting.
Having to sleep with a towel on your pillow because the mouth is gonna bleed excessively.
Mashed potatoes, apple sauce, broth, jello etc was the only thing I could eat for a while.

Got mine taken out a few years ago. They weren't bothering me but 2 were horizontal under the gum so I already figured how it'd go.
Had them put me the fuck to sleep. They gave me the numbing shots and I was so relaxed I damn near went to sleep then but then they put me under and I woke up an hour or so later and it was done. Cost more but was well worth avoiding the discomfort and anything else that may have popped up. Popped 1 pain pill just in case once I got home and didn't use the rest of them. Spent the next week on mainly applesauce and pudding.

Got the right bottom wisdom tooth out 2 yrs ago.
Left bottom side out 6 yrs prior.
Never had cavities except for those two mufuckas.
They came in normal and straight so it was no need to mess wit it when I was younger.
Gave me that numbing shot & I ain't feel shit but relief.

Full anesthesia..... all four at once.... I asked the doc why he wanted to do them two at a time when all four had to come out? He said most people couldn't take that much pain with all four at once. My city dental doesn't pay for the anesthesia.... $250.... I said fuck it, do all four at once.... was sore that night when I moved my jaws, was able to eat the next day.... soreness was gone in aboue 4-5 days and was chewing normally..... :dunno:

Cases differ buddy.... depends on how impacted they are.... mine came in damn near sideways.... the deeper they have to go into your jaw to get them out..... it's like taking local anesthesia for heart surgery

:itsawrap:

The ortho scheduled my removals at the hospital. He said one was so close to my jawbone that he didnt want to risk a crack in their office. Got there, nurse tells me to put my clothes in a bag and put on the gown.

Me: There must be a mistake, I'm here for WISDOM TEETH removal.

She said I know, but this is required for all surgeries.

First dose of sedation didn't knock me out, so they gave me more.
Nurse said I tried to get up while they were wheeling me back to the room and they had to struggle to hold me down.

Had to wear rubber bands on my back teeth to prevent me from opening my mouth too wide. They ended up popping during my son's birthday party (very audible). Man, I panicked. I thought my jaw had cracked. Wife thought it was hilarious. :hmm:

Saw the nurse about 3 months later at Publix and she called me by name. To this day I think she got a peek or something.

Sounds like it will be best if you undergo general anesthesia. You will fall asleep and wake up after the procedure is done. Won't remember a thing. No mental trauma.
Doc told me to count down from 10, got to 5 and was gone.... woke up in the chair awhile later... all done.... gave me some assistance to a lounge chair in his waiting area..... my girl drove me home after about another ten minutes to fully wake up

Of course everyone's different but for me I was able to do it at the dentist office and she went to war pulling them joints out but it got done and I was thankful.

I just hate anesthesia cause of that feeling of waking up feeling like Mike Tyson,Holyfield,Roy Jones and the Mayweather family beat your ass the night before, one after the other and you wake up and the only thing you can think of to say is "What the fuck happened?".I don't like that feeling,at all...

But its your mouth and they have to do what they have to do.....good luck.

Bruh, one night my tooth was hurtin' like a MoFo... I was like, I can't take this anymore.

The Dentist did the x-rays. Only one was hurting, but the other three were coming in crooked as well.

Dentist said that he can take the one, but I will be back soon for the other three. I said, "Nope... you take all four now. I'm not going to keep coming in here." I had all four removed at the same time. If they hurt, get it done as efficiently as possible.

Have someone drive you and have the dentist write your RX for any pain meds so it can be filled before the procedure is done. When the anesthesia wears off you don’t want to be without the pain meds or it will suck until you get them.

I got a wisdom teeth that's cracked that needs to be pulled out but the funny and weird thing about is the fact that i have no pain and it doesn't bother me at all.

Only time it would bother me is if I eat something too cold or bite too hard but other than that, my wisdom teeth is fine but i still want to get taken out though.

The injection shot would numb your mouth and you would only feel vibration of them working on your mouth and pressure with them pulling it out but it won't hurt since you don't feel nothing.

I got two removed when I was a teen with the nitrous oxide! Experience was so good I was asking where I could cop some of that stuff for home use. It didn't put me under completely but I don't remember any of the extraction. I just remember the feeling of floating and the small talk the dentist was having with me. He may have given me an injection of Novocain after giving me the gas but it barely registered. I can absolutely see why people get hooked. If the gas is an option, I'd definitely recommend it!

I had some major dental surgery years ago, fully asleep. I woke up once for a few seconds and felt them working but no pain, went back to sleep. I think I took the medication at 6am, had the surgery at 9am and was done at around 1 or 2. Felt like seconds.

Had two taken out in the military. Local anesthesia, couple of shots in the gums and they went to work. Ate ice cream, mashed potatos and applesauce for a few days. No pain til day 3, woke up side of my face was throbbing. Grabbed the percocet and was good after. I'm not a big straw fan so there was no issue from dry socket.

All 4 at once. They had to cut my gums for 2 of them. Stitches in all four spots. I was fully under for all of this. I didn’t really have any pain. They gave me meds to take at night that had me floating. I did have bleeding for about a week but it wasn’t much.

Gas and had em taken out years ago early in the military. They used pliers to crack them and snatch them out. No issues. Fast forward to around 2008 my finger fractured off in combat, literally in two pieces so they had to reattach it with screws. After I came to in long arm thumb spika everybody in the room was staring at me. I'm like uh, ok??? Tech asked me did I remember anything under anesthesia. No, why? Apparently, I had gotten off the table, cussed everybody out, and called them folks all kinds of motherfuckers etc. One girl looked at me and was laughing her ass off. Oh well.

Had all 4 removed in two sessions. Only one of them hurt because it took so much to get it out. The other 3 went pretty smooth. Wasn't a lot of pain afterwards.

that happened to me as well.

Had a dry socket after I had the bottom right removed. One of the pain and discomfort experiences in life ever.

Bruh...we very similar so just from my experience...
I had to have my four wisdoms an two of the teeth in my bottoms removed in order to get the bottom wisdoms out.. I had it done with laughing gas but here's the catch...
If you a drinker or smoke crazy weed it won't work as well... I don't smoke or drink so laughing gas actually knocked me all the way out .they were laughing at me when it was over cause they said they can tell the patients that's don't use any types of drugs ..an good health .
50 an over avoid anesthesia at all cost bruh ..for real
