Contrary to popular belief those things can move on land when they want to I've seen nature documentaries where they take off like cheetahs and they can climb too.I'm sorry, that's funny as fuck. How dumb you got to be to get eaten by God damn 10-ft alligator?
You're in Florida you know crocodiles and alligators, stay your ass away from water. They don't move fast enough to chase you, but they can Flash out of that water
You get eaten by an alligator or crocodile in a place where you've seen their ass there before then you deserve for The Circle of Life song to be played at your funeral and I'm going to laugh my ass off

Yeah but a manmade lake in a residential area is the last place in the world to expect a run in with a gator and if there was any danger they would've had signs warning of gators or a newo swimming sign like the lake in my area. There are no gators but I know for a fact there are barracudas in that lake.I know. 22 mph is their speed on land for a short distance. And the fact that while they are adolescent they can still climb fences and trees is definitely reason to pause
I love hiking, and I am familiar with every dangerous animal in my area. I know that my area has coyotes, and though they rarely attack humans whenever I go for a walk I take my 8 inch Blade with a string that wraps around my wrist (so I can't drop it during an attack).
I also know there are three venomous snakes in Ohio: the Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake, the Timber Rattlesnake, and the copperhead. However, all are found south of Columbus so walks up near Cleveland are safe, but I'm still careful.
You got to be aware of your surroundings and even though I am a bit morbid admittedly, if you know you are living in a state with dangerous animals (gators, crocs, mountain lions, bears, wolves, snakes) you can't be out casually walking without a care in the world.
I probably shouldn't have laughed at that old lady getting eaten by a gator, but she should have been more aware. We live in their world, encroached on their territory, and it's US who need to be more careful.
Also, a lot of people don't know that hippos kill more people every year in Africa than Lions do, and hippos (35 mph) are fast enough to chase down Usain Bolt (27 mph). Imagine that news story:
Usain Bolt was chased down by a hippo
A hippo? Seriously?
Yeah, really.
People in Florida say if there's water you should assume there are gators in it until proven otherwise.Yeah but a manmade lake in a residential area is the last place in the world to expect a run in with a gator and if there was any danger they would've had signs warning of gators or a newo swimming sign like the lake in my area.
