Who you have for main card? As a hard body UFC fan, I'm not even sure but I hope Islam takes the W

Early Pre-lims, Pre-lims & Main Card

Gonna be a solid main event. Their respective records are 23-1, and 25-1.

Sure right about that. I was thinking what if they never lost a fight. It would've been even more epic.
I believe Volk never lost his fight in UFC but I'm not too sure about Islam. Any idea?

Losing that Whittaker vs. Costa fight for this card was also a tragedy.

Agreed - this match-up isn't getting the attention it deserves. Like you said - if they had PERFECT records - even more so.

Islam lost by TKO in his 2nd UFC fight back in late-2015. He's the real deal. Has trained with Khabib for the majority of his life ... the one who was competitive with him during their years of training.

Alexander lost by TKO in his 4th pro fight outside of the UFC ... way back 10 years ago. He's been perfect in his UFC career since 2016 and has faced a who's who of names.

Yes - would have been nice having that Whittaker - Costa fight on the main card. Hopefully we get it at some point. We've seen how Rob deals with powerful opponents (2 fights with Yoel Romero). He can hold his own due to his technical skill set, and Costa is always must-see ... win or lose. Fun fighter.

Islam wins and they do a rematch at 145lbs at the end of the fall/early winter. I think this move is to separate Islam from Khabib's shadow. Islam can't be undefeated so he'll go for dual champ. Khabib could have EASILY gone into another weight class and come out with a belt (welter would have been harder, but I just can't bet against him) Instead knew that Islam's time was coming and decided that undefeated was good enough for him.

Now Volkanowski's strength is dark horse in this fight, cause he has been teflon with a lot of these submission holds!

That 3rd round was one of the rounds of the year when Ortega & Volkanovski fought.

Re-watched that round a few times after that event happened.

I was shadow boxing the air like Cuba Gooding Jr in Boyz n da Hood scene when Ortega didn't successfully get those submissions.
But even IF Ortega won, I always believed Holloway would've won that next bout w/ Ortega. Holloway's legacy "probably" ruined b/c of Volk

I texted a few people that IF they weren't going to get around to watching that fight - to just watching that 3rd round alone.

I hear you on the shadowboxing ... I was watching on the edge of my seat after the fact. Just damn. Calm under pressure!

Wild how Holloway's career has been derailed in recent years with the 3 losses to Volk. Really helped cement Volk's current P4P status (right up there with other top fighters). Holloway proved himself for years, but Volk's proven to be his kryptonite. And both Holloway and Volk are future hall of famers respectively.

I have Islam taking this fairly easily in the second round by sub.

Once this fight gets to the ground, Islam will put that Dagestan strength and technique to work.

Good choice.

If the fight ends in TKO or KO - it's Volk's win.

If it's a submission ... it goes to Makhachev.

First 2 - 3 rounds = Mak's best bet.

Going the full 25 minutes? Bet on Volk.

I read somewhere that Islam hasn’t gone passed the third. Alex best shot is to kick and run, point fight and drag this out.

However, I have a hard time believing that Islam won’t catch him once…..

Style makes fights and Max ran into a savvier kick boxer.

Same with Adesanya, he can beat everyone in the MW division but ran into that one person that has more power and equivalent kick boxing skills.

Gonna be interesting to see how their MMA rematch goes this spring (Adesanya vs Pereira).

I don’t Izzy can beat Pereira. Too big and strong…with too much skill

Still 50/50 to me.

The problem is the longer the fight drags out the less Adesanya has in the tank to evade Pereira’s power.

Agreed - Adesanya was winning the fight ... until he wasn't. Pereira's corner had the right mindset to close out the fight ... you need to finish your opponent. You're down on the cards. And with a tired champ in front of him, he lived up to the hype.

Islam Would have to cut his arm off to make 145, that's not happening. If he's going to be double champ he'll need to go up.

Izzy was dominant in the first half of the fight because he could evade most of Alex’s power shot. He also rocked Alex in the 2nd but didn’t have time to finish him.

As the fight dragged on Izzy had less in the tank /hurt allowing Alex to land most of his power shots.

In order for Izzy to win, he needs to win in the first 2-3 rounds or point fight (tap tap move) and conserve energy to avoid Alex late.
