Official 2025 NFL Discussion preseason edition!!!

Man.... Last night I was pissed that dude hit Mahomes out of bounds, but today I feel for dude.

There were plenty of mistakes to go around during the game, but his just came at the end and everyone was watching.

He's a young guy that will learn from it and get better!!

Yup. It was a game of ups and downs all around. That play alone didn't lose them the game, it was just the one that came at the end.

Both offenses had a possession with a chance to drive down to score and win. Had the possessions been flip flopped, everyone would be a bit more level-headed about it.

Jerry showing them, it takes 5 SB wins or more to be NFL royalty, lol

It's cool Jerry, just know the 49ers ain't been shit since you retired like the bulls ain't been since jordan retired.

Meanwhile the eagles have a bright future and will be going to the superbowl more than once as long as they got hurts as their QB and a great GM in Howie.

Ideally, how do you want the QB situation to pan out?

I think Trey Lance should be healthy in a few months
Lance goes through the offseason as the #1 QB again
Lance starts the regular season

Purdy goes on "IR to return" or the PUP list, for the first half of the season
Purdy has a chance to come back later in the season for another possible playoff push
.....Because Shannahan will probably end up getting Lance injured again

And we bring in a somewhat cheap backup QB
Someone like Tyrod Taylor (I know he just signed with the Giants)
But basically someone like him, just in case

And finally, Garoppolo is gone.....FOREVER

@EPDC
I believe QB Josh Allen had a partial strain (slight tear)?
No surgery needed

Brock Purdy has a complete tear right off the bone though
Plus the bad thing too, is he used to play baseball
So Purdy's ligament might be already degraded
And Tommy Johns surgery might be the only way :(

@jack walsh13
I believe QB Big Ben also had a complete tear?
And needed surgery

NFL tells teams salary cap will be $224.8M, source says

The NFL has told its 32 teams that the 2023 salary cap will be a record $224.8 million, a source confirmed to ESPN.

This marks an increase of $16.6 million from the 2022 salary cap, which was $208.2 million.

The league will notify teams of total costs, including player benefits, in March.

The league also set the amounts for 2023 franchise tags on Monday.

Sources confirmed to ESPN that quarterbacks who receive a nonexclusive franchise tag before the deadline on March 7 at 4 p.m. ET will be paid a guaranteed salary of $32,416,000 for the 2023 season if they can't agree to a long-term contract by the deadline in July.

The other franchise tag amounts by position:
  • Running backs: $10,091,000
  • Wide receivers: $19,743,000
  • Tight ends: $11,345,000
  • Offensive linemen: $18,244,000
  • Defensive ends: $19,727,000
  • Defensive tackles: $18,937,000
  • Linebackers: $20,926,000
  • Cornerbacks: $18,140,000
  • Safeties: $14,460,000
  • Kickers and punters: $5,393,000
The news was first reported by NFL Network.

Teams will be permitted to negotiate with unrestricted free agents starting March 13 at noon ET. The 2023 league year will officially begin on March 15 at 4 p.m. ET, after which time free agent signings and trades can officially be announced.

The Chicago Bears are projected to have the most salary-cap space, with more than $91 million, while the New Orleans Saints have the least as they are projected to be over the cap by more than $58 million, according to OverTheCap.com.

Teams must be under the salary cap by the start of the 2023 league year.
