TV SHOWS / SERIES - Seen any good ones lately? Please feel free to post reviews / feedback / trailers / articles / TV news / all that shit ...

Checked out the Survivor finale. Overall a pretty good season - a more likeable cast than many prior years. Congrats to the winner - a class act move with their $1M prize.

Checked out the penultimate episode of The Walking Dead, and going to check out the series finale shortly. Haven't watched the show in approx' 2 - 3 seasons, but figured I would check out how they finished the series. See how it all plays out.

Going to check out the Shantaram season finale (released today) tomorrow.

@playahaitian - In those links, the streaming TV discussion is pretty good (like other sites & podcasts of late). They talk about how the model is sort of broken at this point. People not knowing where to find series & movies. The costs. Series being yanked from platforms (sort of like how much the music industry has been digitized over the years) ... creators losing out on residuals and so on. It all creates one big headache.

Enjoyed Shantaram on the whole, though it won't be back for a 2nd season.

Still recommend it though. Happy to have watched it in the rotation of shows in recent months.

Absolutely man. Let me know what's in your podcast playlist rotation, and I'll let you know my regular go-toes when you need any recommendations for stuff to listen to.

All the best to you and your family and EVERYONE reading this.

Yes - have had time off in December. Spent some quality time with pops as he lives locally. Attended my cousin's grade school musical. He's a music teacher & 2 of his kids were in the band. It was a fun Christmas show. Kids that were involved looked to be about 4 - 12yo.

Brother is in town for a few days, so we picked him up from the airport yesterday & had dinner afterward. It's good to see him. Last saw him in August.

Damn you Apple TV for canceling Shantaram.
When I was watching the last episode I said ok at least things are wrapping up...but no big bold TO BE CONTINUED
caption..oh well on to the books.

BAD SISTERS on Apple TV.John Paul Williams is the highlight of this slow burn series about a controlling brother in law tormenting his sisters in law in numerous and sinister ways . Williams performance makes me look forward to watching him as Dracula on Netflix

In from the Cold on Netflix sort of a slow burn. But i have to hand it to this series for having unique story threads ,great kills and action sequences. Plus it was cool to see Margarita Levieva who I haven't seen since The Deuce

Just started watching Top Boy, about an episode through, and then see something about Top Boy:Summerton. So I'm guessing I should watch Top Boy Summerton first?

Yes, you should watch Top Boy: Summerhouse first.

It’s labeled and listed separately from the other seasons for some odd reason on Netflix.

It introduces the main characters.

Also, the actress who plays Shuri (Black Panther) co-stars in Summerhouse, not gonna spoil it but she may return next season.

Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities
2022

6.5/10

This is a new horror anthology series that debuted back in October just before Halloween. I started watching it while on the road earlier this week and finished last night.

Because it’s not a continuous series, it’s why I watched it cuz if Netflix cancels it, which they are notorious of doing with their series, it wouldn’t be a waste of time watching it.

Not gonna spoil it, but if you are a fan of the classic Rod Serling series “Night Gallery” and the 1980s “Tales from the Darkside”, you will enjoy this series.

It has a lot of graphic violence and gore in a number of its episodes. They don’t hold back.

Some of the stories may be familiar being they are made from short stories and some are predictable as soon as they start to play out, but they are all still enjoyable to watch.

There is some weird, way out in left field shit in a couple of episodes. While watching I was wondering if I needed to be buzzed to get the full effect from the series.

Each episode is full of familiar and recognizable actors from a number of well known movies/tv shows over the past 30+ years.

I’m not sure, but I suspect all the episodes tie in to one another, even though they are written by different authors. The first two episodes have a character represented in each one, but I couldn’t find a connection with the other 6 episodes. See if you can find a connection.

There are 8 episodes that run between 40min to just over a hour.

Synopsis

An anthology of sinister stories told by revered horror creators.

Call Me Miss Cleo on HBO/MAX
Even as a kid i knew Miss Cleo was scam artist grifter. But this documentary was an eye opener and then some and still very much a mystery,as layers of her life are pulled back. Also it was interesting to see how the late night infomercials strived and started to fade away for the most part.

Watched the first season of The Cleaning Lady and it has the basic story threads of movies and TV shows but
thanks to likeable characters and situations and good pacing the show is highly watchable

1923 is another win from Taylor Sheridan. I was immediately drawn to the characters and the situations they find themselves in. By watching this and Yellowstone you can see history repeat itself.

This hbo max situation is unprecedented

@Helico-pterFunk

Yeah - it seems like it's all one big clusterfuck headache at this point.

From all the updates we've been getting in recent weeks / months ... seems like viewers / fans are losing confidence in their actions and decision-making.

And it sucks ... because both HBO and HBO MAX have a shitload of good to great content. It's not like they're 2nd-rate garbage platforms or easy money grabs.

Been watching this docuseries lately - looks like it initially aired in 2014 on Knowledge Network in Canada. I've DVR'd a handful of episodes this past month, and my mom recommended it back in the day (she was an RN and RPN throughout her career at other locations and facilities). Looks like they did 6 eps in season 1, 6 in season 2, and only 2 for the third and final season. I have seen 4 eps from season 1 and will keep the "series recording" on the DVR so it records other episodes in the months ahead. The Youtube clip isn't a regular episode clip, but features a decent number of the medical staff from the docuseries.

I liked seeing the camaraderie amongst the staff; assorted medical issues they were dealing with & the organized chaos with everyone doing their part in assisting patients.

Very difficult work.
