It's not all the time we deal with that. I lived 32 years in the cold and the last twelve in the Central Florida heat. Just moved back and am happy with it.Idk how y’all do it but I’ve dealing with this heat all my life…
If you have a few minutes, Colin approved.Regarding Kyler Murray and others tearing their ACL....is it me or are ACL injuries becoming too damned prevalent?
Growing up watching football in the 80s/90s I never really heard of cats tearing their ACL. Only remember a few messing them up during off season playing basketball or some shit.
Now it seems like every few weeks, a new player tears their ACL.
Can't blame it all on turf, I mean in the 80s/90s teams used Astroturf which was the worst, and Kyler Murray was playing on grass last night.
Is it because the game is just faster now? It just seems weird how these injuries just seem so normal now.
But as a player no one wants to be taken out of a game, he prob been playing injured most of the season. They benched him and said cool I can get this knee looked at now.I cannot remember ever ever ever seeing or hearing this in real time in public about a "star" QB
Interesting, thanks! Skimming through this, I just wish the study was from an earlier time frame. If you have a few minutes, Colin approved.
Study from 2013 to 2020
ACL Tears in the National Football League From 2013 to 2020: Analysis of the 2020 Season After Delays and Schedule Changes From the Early COVID-19 Pandemic Relative to Prior Seasons - PMC
The impact of fatigue and preseason preparation on anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears in the National Football League (NFL) are not well described. The 2020 NFL season did not include the standard preseason in response to changes secondary to ...www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
379 ACL tears were identified, including 256 (67.6%) during game play and 118 (31.1%) during practice.
In the National Football League (NFL), knee injuries have been shown to represent approximately 20% to 30% of all injuries, 6,20 and 24% of literature on orthopaedic injuries in NFL athletes focuses on the knee. 19 While NFL athletes are subject to numerous types of knee injuries, there has been much interest in the evaluation of players after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears. ACL tears represent 2% of injuries in the NFL.
Plus now players don't attend voluntary camps and play in preseason games.Interesting, thanks! Skimming through this, I just wish the study was from an earlier time frame.
This piece was fascinating:
"There was an increased proportion of in-season ACL tears in the 2020 NFL season relative to 2014 to 2019; this is attributable to a frameshift in the consistent trend of injuries in the 1st month to return of competitive play, with 2020 being in the regular season in September as opposed to the preseason in August."I wonder if the fact that these athletes don't get time off also plays into these injuries as well. Back in the day, players got in shape during training camp. Nowadays, they are expected to have a high level of fitness and conditioning all year long. I wonder if that has any effect on the body.
His knee hasn't been a problem all year. The only thing "injured" is his feelings. But as a player no one wants to be taken out of a game, he prob been playing injured most of the season. They benched him and said cool I can get this knee looked at now.
But yes he has been playing poorly.
