Mr Obama’s current stand is in contrast with his earlier comments on the subject. During his presidential campaign in 2008, he appeared to oppose reparations and said “the best reparations we can provide are good schools in the inner city and jobs for people who are unemployed.”

Evidently you do not have an appreciation of the limitations of Presidential power. Obama accomplished much considering the total opposition and obstruction thrown at him by the Republican Party. All true, but as regards passing legislation you are not factoring in the 59 Blue Dog Democrats (who were essentially Republican lite) and nearly as obstructionist as the Republicans. Even with a majority do you remember how difficult it was to pass the ACA for example. Pluralities do not guarantee automatic passage. And don't discount the Filibuster that Republicans threw up at every opportunity that way too many times stopped proposed legislation beneficial to people of color from even getting a vote.
Bottom line, Obama in the face of total Republican obstructionism and frequent conservative Democrats meddling managed to get passed legislature that benefitted blacks as well as whites. Obama deserves some credit you evidently are unwilling to acknowledge for successfully navigating a both Democratic and Republican shark infested legislature and scoring major economic and social wins for everybody except the one percenters.
