There seems to be a disconnect sometimes between the hard-core lesbians that see WNBA as their "safe space" vs those that are not feeling or that into that lifestyle. Not sure what the WNBA can do to bridge the two in that respect, especially if the lesbian crowd are actually the ones that are going to games. Obviously, my thought process could be totally wrong.

I actually feel kinda bad for the league. I remember the buzz it had it's first few years. The Houston Comets with C-Coop, Swoops, and Tina Thompson was fun to watch. Lisa Lesley and the Sparks weren't too bad either. Folks actually forget that there was a second pro league the same year. I believe Dawn Stalley and a few other were in that league before it folded. The novelty of a women pro league eventually wore off. And some of its biggest stars begin to retire. I think the league should've changed it up some. The tried to make it 1 to 1 version of the NBA, just with less teams and games.
Most of the women players stay a full 4 years in college. Which is were most of them are watched. There's little incentive to follow them once they leave campus. You have already seen them play in a more competitive and entertaining league. The WNBA is actually a step down for most of the players and fans. They go off to WNBA and are forgotten about. The big recruits will probably make more money in college now with the NIL deals than in WNBA. Candace Parker, Chamique Holdscaw, Taurasi, etc. Would have made some serious bank back in the day.
I think they need to get creative with marketing of the league. Maybe introduce a reality spinoff show that follow a few of the star players or rookies around during or before the season. Something similar to Hardknocks. They tried hard make it a family oriented league for parents and young girls. Fuck that shit. Lets add some spice to it. Prop Liz Cambage ho ass up on a show as she talks about the challenge of playing in the WNBA and being a "sex symbol" running an Onlyfans account. Have Skylar Diggins and Taurasi come "talk it out" in a podcast format about their heated exchange they had on the sidelines. And throw them fine ass Gonzalez twin girls on someone roster. They played D1 ball and can hoop. Yeah, it wouldn't be family friendly. But it would create some interest about the players.
