Tom Benson really wanted to get the Jazz name back and seemed to be willing to pay big money for it but the Jazz ownership shot it down immediately and David Stern co-signed them.
I can understand that between the time the Jazz left for Utah in 1979 and the Hornets moved to New Orleans in 2002 the Jazz had two iconic, hall of fame players and an iconic and hall of fame coach and made two finals appearences, so giving up the name was a bit of tough thing for them but they look stupid everytime they try to move away from the mountain themes and do either musical or mardi gras themes.
