BREAKING: INVASION HAS BEGUN..... Putin's "3-day war"... NOW... 1 YEAR 338 DAYS ...WAGNER HEAD SAYS GROUP STANDING DOWN AFTER CLAIMS OF DEAL

Its a 7D chess move. Putin is playing with his foes like an Orca plays with his food. Its all part of the grand scheme of taking Ukraine in heroic fashion. First you send in the C team to make it seem like a struggle for a month. Then you sell a wolf ticket or two about reading your nuclear forces. And when it looks like you’re all but beaten then BAM. You come out with the big guns after losing hundreds of airplanes/tanks and thousands of comrades and take the entire country overnight like a flash out of nowhere.

:hmm:

You are short changing Putin. See, he wants Russia to return to the former glory enjoyed by the Soviet Union. What better way to pay homage to this past than by humiliating yourself on the global stage? The antiquated Soviet era equipment, the corruption and general incompetence are all Putin honoring the soviet era. Pre invasion of Ukraine, Afghanistan was the most costly blunder in Soviet history. Now, with the current disaster in Ukraine, Afghanistan is actually a great Soviet victory. The sanctions, isolation, collapse of the economy and massive loses in Ukraine are a small price to pay in order to enjoy what is now a great Soviet success in Afghanistan.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Cheap Chinese tires blamed for Russian convoy unable to reach Kyiv

The tires of a Russian armored vehicle are shown ripped

Cheap Chinese tires have been blamed for a Russian convoy of armoured vehicles being unable to reach Kyiv.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Defence issued an update revealing that a convoy of Russian tanks advancing on the capital of Ukraine remained 30km from the centre of the city having made little progress over the previous three days because of “Ukranian resistance, mechanical breakdown and congestion.”

Karl Muth, an academic based at the University of Chicago and a self-described tire expert, took to Twitter to set out a theory blaming cheap Chinese tires for the slow advance of Russian vehicles.

“Those aren’t Soviet-era heavy truck radials,” Muth said, commenting on a photo of a Russian army vehicle with ripped tires.

Instead Muth believes the trucks use “Chinese military tires, and I believe specifically the Yellow Sea YS20.”

“This is a tire I first encountered in Somalia and Sudan. it’s a bad Chinese copy of the excellent Michelin XZL military tire design,” he continued.

Former pentagon staff member Trent Telenko also got stuck into the debate and said “poor Russian army truck maintenance practices” has created a risk of equipment failure.

“When you leave military truck tires in one place for months on end. The side walls get rotted/brittle such that using low tire pressure setting for any appreciable distance will cause the tires to fail catastrophically via rips,” Telenko said.

“There is a huge operational level implication in this,” Telenko continued, pointing out that the equipment is too fragile to cope with muddy terrain forcing the Russian convoy to stick to raised paths.

“The Crimea is a desert and the South Ukrainian coastal areas are dryer. So we are not seeing this there. But elsewhere the Russians have a huge problem for the next 4-to-6 weeks,” he concluded.

Russian ship that fired on ‘f–k yourself’ Ukrainians destroyed

The Valisy Bykov — a Russian warship that fired on guards at Snake Island — has been destroyed in battle.

A Russian warship that fired on a group of Ukrainian border guards after being told to “go f–k yourself” was destroyed in battle, according to a report Tuesday.

“We f–king hit them,” a man is heard saying on a recording of the conflict, the Times of London said.

Another man reportedly echoed the famous words of the Ukrainian soldier who defiantly resisted a Russian order to surrender a military outpost on Snake Island in the Black Sea during Day One of the invasion.

“Russian warship, go f–k yourself,” the man said.

The Valisy Bykov, a small type of warship known as a corvette, was one of two Russian vessels that opened fire on Snake Island on Feb. 24, the Times said, citing the Janes military intelligence group.

An audio clip captured part of the ship’s confrontation with a contingent of 13 Ukrainian soldiers who refused to abandon their post on the island.

“This is a Russian warship,” an unidentified voice can be heard saying. “I propose you lay down your weapons and surrender to avoid bloodshed and unnecessary victims. Otherwise, you will be bombed.”

The Ukrainians replied, “Russian warship, go f–k yourself.”

The Vasily Bykov was hit during an exchange of rockets early Monday, possibly by a missile fired by land-based Ukrainian forces defending the port city of Odessa, which for days has been bracing for a Russian attack, the Times said.

“Ship was destroyed, it is confirmed,” a Ukrainian military source told the British paper.

The Ukrainian navy also reportedly said units defending Odessa had “struck an enemy ship,” adding: “The enemy has retreated again.”

U.S. Intel: China Alarmed by Russian Brutality in Ukraine
The new assessment from the CIA signals growing fissures between the two Eastern powers that believed cooperation could protect against Western punishments.
The brutality of President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine has “unsettled” President Xi Jinping and spurred fissures between Russia and China, U.S. intelligence believes, undermining concerted public efforts by the two powers to appear aligned in their respective efforts to grab power internationally.
Despite heavy Chinese investments in its partnership with Russia in recent years, “the Chinese leadership, President Xi in particular, is unsettled by what he’s seeing” in Europe, CIA Director William Burns told Congress on Thursday, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on a scale unseen on the continent since World War II.
“His own intelligence doesn’t appear to have told him what was going to happen,” Burns said of Xi, citing also the Chinese Communist Party leader’s new concerns about “the reputational damage that China suffers by associating with the ugliness of Russia’s aggression with Ukraine.”
Burns’ comments to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, as a part of annual hearings regarding threats to the U.S., represent the first major public assessment of what China knew in advance of Russia’s assault on its former Soviet ally. And they signal troubling tensions between Moscow and the Chinese financial juggernaut that Putin appears to have believed would bail out Russia in the wake of predictable Western economic sanctions.
The CIA director similarly cast doubt on those assumptions from the Kremlin. He cited Beijing’s stinginess with Moscow in negotiating new pipelines following the international fallout it faced from forcibly annexing the Crimean Peninsula in 2014.
“They weren’t particularly flexible or sympathetic in a way during that period,” Burns said. “I suspect there’s not going to be an easy way out for President Putin as he looks to try to deal with these economic consequences – not from the Chinese, not from anyone else.”
Publicly, Putin and Xi have attempted to show a united front in recent weeks – an indication they believe their partnership can help weather predictable Western constraints on their respective geopolitical ambitions. In practice, however, the U.S. believes China likely considers Russia to be unpredictable and likewise Moscow believes Beijing does not respect its leaders as peer partners, according to current and former officials speaking to U.S. News on the condition of anonymity.
The pair held a high-profile meeting in early February at the outset of the Winter Olympics that Beijing hosted at a time of skyrocketing tensions with the West, though little is known about what they discussed – including the extent to which Putin forewarned Xi about his ambitions in Ukraine.
After their meeting Xi and Putin issued a joint statement that appeared to offer pre-emptive support for Russia's ambitions toward Ukraine and China's designs on Taiwan – which it considers a renegade province. However, the relatively uniform international condemnation of Russia’s subsequent aggression in Ukraine has likely created pause among decision-makers in Beijing who likely consider their ambitions to reintegrate Taiwan with mainland China as far from inevitable.
Indeed, Russia’s latest acts of aggression not only strain its relations with China but also endanger Beijing’s own investments. Burns said Thursday that China, like Russia, also does not appear to have anticipated the extent to which European powers and their allies across the Atlantic would unite in their condemnation of Russia and willingness to punish Moscow for its invasion.
“The Chinese leadership looks at Europe not just as a market but as a kind of player with whom they can have an independent relationship and try to look for ways in which they can drive wedges between us and our European allies,” Burns said. “And what President Putin has so successfully done is to make that much less likely.”

So NATO was formed to stop Russia's advancement in Europe and now Russia wanted to join the organization that wants to stop them?
:cmonson:
What the point of NATO at that point.

To stop the USSR, not modern day Russia. Putin also wanted to become part of the EU to help drive additional economic stability but was denied that as well. Remember the Soviet Union was broken up and new leadership was put in place.

I said this days ago…

It was a huge mistake not allowing Russia in NATO. But without a bad guy, who would you sell the billions in weapons to?

The US needs Russia or China to keep the military industrial machine going..

Exactly.
There's more to this war than they are telling us.

Ukrainian Soldiers Knock Out Russian Tank With NLAW In Ambush

You don’t need to be a military expert and not see this shit coming before you even knew what was going on before watching it.

You don’t move a armored convoy like that in wartime conditions like this, especially in a area that is not under your control.

Exactly.

It's not just this war...it's ALOT if not all wars.

There's no money in peace for these companies...

If you sell weapons, how much can you make in peaceful vs times of war? If there's not a war, create one, or the threat of war.

The same is true in medicine and pharma...

Right out of Henry Kissinger's playbook.
This thinking will reach a point of no return come soon.
I'm fine with an independent Ukraine, not a NATO allied one. Too great a risk.
