Russian insider and Putin critic Andrei Kozyrev, who served as the Russian Foreign Minister from 1991 to 1996, joins MSNBC’s Ari Melber to discuss Putin’s state of mind and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

How African countries voted on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine

Africans are criticizing their governments for abstaining from the United Nations vote condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

On Mar. 2, 17 African countries abstained from the UN General Assembly vote, representing almost half of all countries that sat on the fence. Eritrea, on the other hand, was the only African country that voted against the resolution, joining Belarus, North Korea, Russia, and Syria.

The resolution, which says it deplores Russia’s “aggression against Ukraine,” was passed at an emergency gathering of the UN General Assembly. It was voted on by 141 of the body’s 193 member states, with 35 members of the UN General Assembly abstaining from it.

The vote means the UN has declared Russia’s invasion of Ukraine a violation of the UN Charter, the foundational treaty of the global body.

General Assembly resolutions are non-binding but they have political weight. Therefore, the vote represents a symbolic victory for Ukraine.

The vote also indicates division among African countries on the Russia-Ukraine war. While some have strongly condemned Russia’s invasion, most have remained quiet. The African Union on its part has asked Russia to respect international law and Ukraine’s sovereignty.

Social media users criticized African countries for abstaining from the vote.

Some of the abstaining countries have defended their decision. On Mar. 6, South African president Cyril Ramaphosa said the resolution “did not foreground the call for meaningful engagement” between Russia and Ukraine.

“South Africa expected that the UN resolution would foremost welcome the commencement of dialogue between the parties and seek to create the conditions for these talks to succeed,” he said.

“Instead, the call for peaceful resolution through political dialogue is relegated to a single sentence close to the conclusion of the final text. This does not provide the encouragement and international backing that the parties need to continue with their efforts.”

Quick question

Didn’t trump attempt to get America out of nato? I remember hearing that if so why? Do conservatives not care for it? We know Putin white conservative ideology is similar to gop here.

I think Trump didn’t like the idea of the US giving all this money to this place and many of those other countries wasn’t putting in close to that amount.

now was that connected to Russia idk but them dots sho connected

Look at this
Here are the 10 countries with the most NATO spending:
  1. United States ($6.85 Tn)
  2. United Kingdom ($655.27 Bn)
  3. Germany ($491.32 Bn)
  4. France ($477.05 Bn)
  5. Italy ($232.81 Bn)
  6. Canada ($212.77 Bn)
  7. Turkey ($180.00 Bn)
  8. Spain ($123.36 Bn)
  9. Poland ($113.76 Bn)
  10. Netherlands ($113.60 Bn)

Have to admit it kind of bothers me to think that ukraine could so quickly get $13.6B, when proposals to help BLACK people always have to be studied for months or years and are eventually tabled after we're told they cost too much.
Also you
Seems I say this every day. We were presented with a choice of one or the other, and most people got it right. If you didn't, stay calm. There's always next time. :)
Is it oochie wally or is it one mic?

Everybody is focused on Putin using nukes.

Very slim chance that will happen, like pointed out a number of times, Russia will be directly affected by the fallout.

What isn’t being brought up is Putin using Chemical weapons. There are bans and treaties signed banning the use of those type of weapons, but as we have seen, Putin is already violating a number of treaties with no fear.

The use of chemical weapons should not affect his troops being they are equipped and trained to protect themselves and equipment.

And the agents can be contained just in Ukraine and not fallout into Russia.

Not to be conspiracy, but when Saddam Hussein used chemical weapons on his own people, those weapons came from Russia and there have been theories that Saddam was instructed by Russia to use them to test the effectiveness of the weapons.

Russia today has the data and knows how effective their weapons are and made whatever tweaks to them to make them more lethal.

We will wait and see….

Thats not the issue though. Its just that we arent stupid enough to believe Putin when he says he invaded Ukraine to de-nazify the nation.

I can point you to videos on Youtube showing this is the case. The fact they installed this Jewish/President Obama like figure and readily discussed his tragic family history is a red flag to refute accusations.

Victoria Nuland said fuck the EU, who was hesitant to get involved with Nazis, we are proceeding with our plans. This was based on leaked tapes. Zelenskyy is scum that setup President Trump for impeachment after showing favoritism toward Putin. He refused to cooperate with the DOJ investigation into President Biden to entrap President Trump with threatening his military aid. What is next, missile attacks against Air Force One, that a head of state of another country in concert with the President political rival plots? This is a sign of weakness that can not be tolerated.

Oleh Tyahnybok: member of the Verkhovna Rada and the leader of nationalist Svoboda political party

Although much of the more extreme content has now been removed from Svoboda’s leaflets, the European Parliament passed a resolution on Ukraine in 2012 that asked Kiev not to associate with the party on account of its “racist, anti-Semitic and xenophobic views.”

Parliament goes on to express concern about the rising nationalistic sentiment in Ukraine, expressed in support for the Svoboda Party, which, as a result, is one of the two new parties to enter the Verkhovna Rada. It recalls that racist, anti-Semitic and xenophobic views go against the EU's fundamental values and principles and therefore appeals to pro-democratic parties in the Verkhovna Rada not to associate with, endorse or form coalitions with this party.

These sanctions against Russia, are really to silence Putin which links back to the black/hispanic community. When they mention Neo-Nazis, while a native Russian speaking, Jewish President is in power, they get nervous. This strategy was used against the black community with President Obama/Michelle, while Nazi are running around terrorizing me.

The Russian interpreting these sanctions as the West trying to destroy them would be wrong, it is to chill out their rhetoric which has far reaching implications in the U.S. than the Russians may understand.

None of that even comes close to proving that Putin is there to remove the Nazi element in Ukraine.

In fact none of that even addresses the issue.

Are you one of those guys who believed Putin when he said he was only conducting training exercises?
