JJ Redick reveals he once called out Zion Williamson in front of entire Pelicans

Former NBA guard JJ Redick recently put New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson on blast for not reaching out to new teammate CJ McCollum. On ESPN’s First Take, Redick even described Zion’s behavior as “insane.”

Redick, who played one and a half seasons with the Pelicans, couldn’t fathom how Zion doesn’t do even the bare minimums as a teammate. The sweet-shooting guard also revealed he already called out the often-injured forward in front of the whole team for his lack of commitment.

“I addressed this with Zion in front of the team. There is a responsibility that you have to have as an athlete when you play a team sport to be fully invested: To be fully invested in your body, your work, your teammates. And we have not seen that from Zion. As a teammate, there is a pattern of behavior. This is worrisome.”
Well, it seems Redick’s advice simply fell on deaf ears, as Zion continues to be not fully invested with the Pelicans. There were rumors in the past that the 21-year-old force of nature and his family aren’t happy in NOLA, so perhaps there’s some truth to the whispers.
Redick and Zion both starred at Duke, and they sure learned there how to be fully committed, especially with a strict coach in Mike Krzyzewski. But quite noticeably, it hasn’t been the same in the NBA for the Pelicans star, who is still out due to a foot injury.

Ben Simmons’ key role alongside Nets teammates Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, revealed

Ben Simmons appears to be closing in on his debut for the Brooklyn Nets. On Tuesday, team general manager Sean Marks provided a crucial update on the former Rookie of the Year’s current status, and by the looks of it, it seems like we’re going to be seeing Simmons take the floor for his new team soon.

In the same interview, Marks also discussed what he believes Simmons will be able to bring to the table. The Nets gave up quite a haul to bring the 25-year-old guard to Brooklyn and they expect him to play a key role alongside team superstars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving:

“Just to have that versatility, and I’m going to keep harping on the versatility that he brings offensively and defensively,” said Marks, via Tom Dowd of NBA.com. “It’s going to be a matchup nightmare for other teams. There’s no question that he’s already proved that he can do that, and it takes a little bit of a load off of Kevin. Maybe it puts Kevin in a different light. Maybe it puts Kyrie in a different set of circumstances where they don’t have to handle the ball all the time. They can get out there and run the wings and vice versa. Ben can run those wings and when we see how fast he is at spreading the floor, I think if we’re coming at waves against the opposition, playing at pace, that should prove good for us.”
Nets fans should definitely feel excited about Ben Simmons’ upcoming debut. As Marks said, the 6-foot-11 guard is expected to make an immediate impact as soon as he starts playing again.

There is no denying that Simmons is not the most offensively gifted player out there. However, it is also a well-established fact that his defense is second to none. The Nets already have two of the most explosive scorers in the NBA in Durant and Irving which should allow Simmons to take a backseat on the offensive end. He will, however, serve as this team’s anchor on defense, leaving KD and Kyrie focused more on offense.
This all looks good on paper, but in the end, nothing is guaranteed. Simmons will need to prove that he can function well alongside two other stars in Brooklyn. He has a tremendous opportunity to resurrect his career, and not to mention, a shot at an NBA title.

Shit... I didn't realize these cats got such a long break for All-Star Weekend.

I thought there might be games tonight.

Good for them for getting a week off

Adam Silver and the NBA tweaked it few years back and pushed up the trade deadline to give traded players, buyout players and teams time to adjust during the season.....

Damn, didn't expect JJ Reddook to call Zion a detached teammate on First Take

But he's also a part of that fake ass Brotherhood.

I just don't think Zion is a leader, he's never had to be. He played on the third tier Under Armour AAU circuit and at high school with 6'2 white dudes. He went to a college where Splinter was the leader.

He might not love basketball. He might just like it and he's good at it.
You always have dukies in your mouf

fake “brotherhood”?

coach K said he’s the best player he ever coached

A hit piece.

It's over.. He's Brooklyn's problem now, Philly gotta let that distain go
ALL FACTS IN THE ARTICLE THOUGH. There's not 1 lie there. Marcus Hayes knows what he's talking about. And it's the truth the national media refuses to understand.
