New Music Video: Lizzo - Rumors feat. Cardi B

Lizzo breaks down over fat-shaming, racist reactions to ‘Rumors’

Lizzo broke down in tears over racist and fat-phobic comments she received after dropping her new song “Rumors,” featuring Cardi B.
“Sometimes I feel like the world just don’t love me back. It’s like, it doesn’t matter how much positive energy you put into the world. You’re still going to have people who have something mean to say about you,” Lizzo, 33, sobbed during an Instagram Live on Sunday.

She continued, “I just feel like I’m seeing negativity directed towards me in the most weirdest way, like, people saying s–t about me that just doesn’t even make sense. It’s fat-phobic and it’s racist and it’s hurtful.”

The “Truth Hurts” artist explained that while she’s grateful for Cardi B and Atlantic Records and everyone who helped her with the song, she expressed that she was “overwhelmed.”

“For the people who are just always going to have something negative to say about me that’s nothing to do with music, or content of my character, or me as an artist, and just have everything to do with my body or whatever trope you think I fall into, suck my p—y from behind ’cause y’all motherf–kers gonna be the main ones catching up,” she said.

Lizzo also clarified that her music is not meant to appease the public and what they expect of her.

“I’m not making music for white people, I’m not making music for anybody. I’m a black woman making music. I make black music, period,” she said. “I’m not serving anyone but myself. Everyone is invited to a Lizzo show, to a Lizzo song, to this good energy. Everyone’s invited.”

She added, “I’m doing this shit for the big black women in the future who just want to live their lives without being scrutinized or put into boxes. I’m not gonna do what y’all want me to do, ever, so get used to it. But what I will do is make great music and be a great artist and continue to uplift people and uplift myself.”

The twerking flutist asserted that she was going to only “focus on the positive comments” moving forward. She said she was no longer going to pay any attention to the haters.

“I don’t have time for your negativity, your internalized self-hatred that you project onto me with your racism and your fat-phobia. I don’t have time for it,” she said. “Anyways, Imma continue to be me. Imma continue to be a bad bitch … ’bout to go to some bad bitch s–t. ‘Bout to go make some bad bitch money, and y’all stream ‘Rumors.'”

Lizzo, wiping her tears away with a tissue, ended the video by telling fans that she was “OK” and thanked those who have shown her support, love and acceptance.

“Thank you, I love you, as much as you love yourself, and I hope that you love yourself a lot,” she said.

Lizzo, who is an advocate for body positivity and often posts nude photos and workout videos, has slammed fat-shaming in the past. And in July, she took to social media to deny the crazy rumor she killed a fan by stage diving.

I'm going to tell my kids this is true

7 Injured and 1 Person Dead after Lizzo Allegedly Attempted a Stage Dive

It’s like, it doesn’t matter how much positive energy you put into the world. You’re still going to have people who have something mean to say about you,
stop showing your ass for attention and people can appreciate you for your music. You keep giving them something to talk about. And yes, if you had a body like Cardi and Meghan, things would be different, but you don't so stop trying to force it on us. Cardi and Meghan (to some) look better than they rap. Lizzo sings better than her appearance. Stick to what you do best and make music (for those that enjoy it). Leave the twerking to those less talented that need to find away to make their existence known.

I’m getting a little sick her and as for Lizzo she’s not a ugly woman but she really need to chill out on her weight for health reasons.

Nice video. I like the song chorus too.
I have definitely fucked uglier chicks than Lizzo.
So I know y'all are married to worse.

She ain’t cut out for fame. That’s ok, not everybody can handle it. She needs to find a new career path this ain’t it.

She's a lil overbearing but she said "I don't make music for white people" which is more than many black artist will say because they're afraid to say it.

So do you Lizzo, props.

fat-phobic???

fuckouttahere!

Lizzo looks disgusting. I mean, if you like it I love it, but there's a such thing as being too fat. At the very least it's unhealthy

But if you don't like the way fat people look your fat phobic?

If you aren't gay and don't like seeing two men kiss then you're homophobic?

If you think they should either make a category for trans women or ban them from women's sports then you're transphobic?

Fuck that shit. That's just my fucking opinion. I'm able to have strong unpopular opinions. They only affect me and they're my opinions you don't have to agree with them

That Jenner dude looks disgusting. Giving him woman of the year was an insult to every woman everywhere.

I'm not calling them women because they're not women and they will never be with it. They are men dressed up in women's clothes. I am not calling them she, I'll just say they, them

But in the very beginning of that video where lizzo had her arms out in the fat was just jiggling that shit was nasty looking

How long until she goes the Missy/Adele/Monique route? Explaining away her weight loss as being done for health reasons?
Rebel Wilson did also..now that chick from NBC's This Is Us better do the same since that show ending soon

She swears she eats healthy and exercises

Didnt she post something on Instagram of her with a trainer..?
