Julien Alfred WINS GOLD IN THE WOMEN'S 100M Gabby Thomas Sha'Carri Richardson , Shericka Jackson, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce

You missed the entire point. People are more interested in deriding Sha’Carri than they are in promoting their own sprinters.

I got the point and negated her point. Her point would’ve meant something a month ago or maybe even August 21st at the Prefontaine Classic.

Making that statement on September 3rd makes her sound foolish and trying too hard.

But I’ll pretend to miss the point.

This is really a 84 page thread on a woman who doesnt even do bikini pictures.

Ya’ll niggas changed….. smh

Happy?

This tweet is the most sensible one I've seen. Why are Jamaican's not upset with Jamaican based companies?

Additionally, Jamaicans have to accept that many "international" stars never breakthrough into the US market. It's too difficult. Think of all the reggae and dance hall stars there are. Most of them could walk down any street in the US and go unnoticed. The same with many international actors and athletes. Hell, Christino Ronaldo has earned over a billion dollars playing soccer, but is virtually unrecognizable to most Americans.

Jamaicans should stop crying for white America's acceptance and just stay in their lane......pun intended.

I agree they should stop seeking acceptance but the poster suggesting an athlete endorsing an alcohol beverage is funny.

Anyway, explain to me what would Elaine gain if D&G put a billboard of her in Time square? Will it lead to movie roles and more endorsements? Will more ppl drink Ting if they see Elaine or Shelly beside it?

I have said many times in this thread, Americans are not the biggest supporters of their biggest track event (Penn's Relay).

Since many ppl saying Elaine and Shelly is not marketable in the American market why NIKE even bother to endorsed them?

Is NIKE a non-profit organization?

Ppl saying Sha'carri is more marketable and relevant but I have yet to see one person in here post her appearance fee at these meets. If she is the one pulling the audience then she should be getting a decent appearance fee.

I disagree. My wife ran track in college and used to make sure we went often pre-covid. It was always packed.

Simple, NIKE is a global company. Just because they are not marketable in the US does not mean they are not marketable elsewhere. In addition, there is value in exposure and association.

Shelly doesn't have to mention NIKE once. But, by wearing the shoes, she still sends a message that the product is good and her best choice.

What lane should Jamaicans stay in?? ....

.... the USA does not represent the entire financial or commercial market, in fact it's not even close to half.....

This is a global commercial world... Nike, Puma, Adidas and all the big sports giants are globally endorsed and accepted, from Africa, Europe, Asia, USA and and the Caribbean.....

...... remember an athlete promoting a brand for a company does not only get bought by track and field enthusiasts but by people from all walks of life and players of other sports all over the world....

..... also one or two Jamaicans pushing out 'complaining tweets' & social media messages does not represent the opinions of the athletes.

:lol:You can just tell this chick don't listen!!!

How did you know? That was early in the game before she ever showed her ass, which I would still like to see more of.

Big facts, commercials look very different around the world. There’s a lot of Ads we don’t see in the US market and they use different personalities abroad.

To be honest, she's not much to look at. And those tats look stank.

I'd still beat tho. :dunno:

Watch yo mouf Tito, I like these lil hood rat types lol.

Yes, but packed by who?

Most Americans wouldn't know the global impact of a track athlete because they do not travel and if it is not shown on the American media, they wouldn't have a clue. This is why most of the popularity argument focus on the American market.

Nike is not the best company to promote track & field athlete. They approach Bolt and he turned them down.

In the last 20 yrs how many ppl can name some shoes that track athletes endorsed?
Before all this talk about endorsement how many American track athletes sponsored by Nike ppl could name off the top of their head?

Oh well Nike did promote Messi ( the five Ballon d’Or awards) in America?

Americans. Why? Because it has a wide variety of categories. Elementary through college.

No non US athletes participates unless they run for a US school in this event.

We both agree that the US is a media vaccume. The US dictates global culture. So, most do not feel the need to know what other people are doing because those other people are looking to do what the US is doing. This won't change soon. I've said it in other threads, black Americans only make up 13% of the US population and only 1% of the global population. Yet, we influence nearly 100% of the global culture. I love Jamaica and Jamaicans, but they can not say that.

Some Jamaicans expect popularity in the US, not fully understanding US marketing culture.

In reality, even Caribbean women wearing bright colored weaves (as much as I hate this style) is straight from the US black women's playbook.

I had to read this ten times.

"No non US athletes participates unless they run for a US school in this event."

In other words, only schools in the US participate in the Penn's Relay?
If my interpretation of your statement is correct.

YOU NEVER ATTEND PENN'S RELAY and I don't want to brand you a liar but tell me I didn't understand what you wrote.

But you can correct me if I am wrong.

Thank you, for allowing me to walk that back. Wrote too fast.

The Penn Relays are based upon NCAA and North American schools.

Some international schools do participate, including those from Jamaica. However, a vast majority of the spectators are US.

Edit: I just spoke with the wife, we are already looking into Air BnB/ hotels for April. I will share photos from the 2022 event.

Disagree. They been on that for awhile and I don't believe they got that from our women at all.
My brother, don't discount black American women ghettoness.

It's embarrassing, but it is what it is.

Caribbean and African women have been shaking ass for centuries. But, US black women took twerking to new heights and now Chinese girls are shaking their backs.

Geesh.

Nah I don't think Jamaica needs to look towards the US for ghetto inspiration. Black American women are symbol of excellence worldwide. Who is Jamaica's Beyonce? Michelle Obama? Coretta Scott? I'll wait.

Even on BGOL the threads about Black American women get the most participation and views. This one is proof. Been on the front page a month straight. :dunno:

You boomers on BGOL gotta understand the whole lying about the condition of other places to denigrate the US or Black America is dead fam. Social media killed that. We know and see too much to believe that. There isn't a space on the internet where Black American men sit up all night talking bout a non-ADOS woman, but for a month straight on this board alone non-ADOS been yapping bout Sha'Carri every night. White boys, Africans, Caribbeans, you name it. :dunno:

Glad you had a chat with the wife and she corrected you. :lol2:

You are wrong but next time you attend, pay close attention and listen to the announcer.

This is true, but the US is the biggest market in the world and spends the most on goods and services. If you don't blow here there is a ceiling to your earning potential. Excluding soccer players (as it's not big in the US) no athlete that is unknown in the US is some megastar on the level of a LeBron or Michael Jordan or one of our premier athletes. Our athletes sell merch and have ads all over the world, not just the US.

And no one in this thread mentioned it. But cats was posting fake photoshopped IG quotes earlier this week. Nike doesn't have to pay these people either, they do the promo for free!!! :roflmao2:

How many ppl in here follow Sha'carri on social media?

Concurred. She is not attractive at all. The KRS-1 nose and the ugly wigs prevent me from seeing her sexually at all. She is a mediocre runner who got a ticket on the hype train. That's all I see..

I think she actually has a chance to win today ...

more n more races she runs the better she will get ...

i think her PB is better than everyone`s in this field ....

anyway what time is the race ....?...csi....?

I haven't seen a time or a station. She just posted on IG about 30 minutes ago she's headed to the track so it prolly starts soon.

One of the main reasons I believe we have lost our creative edge!! Now everyone does the same-thing they see on tv or media/social media!! People are doing the same dance for 30+ years and listening to the same genre of music for 40+ys!! Follow the leader is the norm these days and the masses see no problem with it!! Anyway, well said Tito
