TV SHOWS / SERIES - Seen any good ones lately? Please feel free to post reviews / feedback / trailers / articles / TV news / all that shit ...

guys

we've abandoned this thread for almost 3 months

time for updates including international shows

I think most TV shows are now in post-production after the lockdowns so we should expect more from November onwards

It's going to be good having more shows returning. Especially now that studios and production companies better understand all the covid protocols that need to be in place, etc.

Gonna be interesting to see what the movie landscape is like next year too. So many movies have been pushed back from their original 2020 / 2021 release dates.

Good news for Reservation Dogs fans (they just aired season 1 - episode 5). They've already been renewed for a 2nd season ...

Reservation Dogs” has been renewed for Season 2 at FX on Hulu.

The critically-acclaimed comedy series is still airing its first season, with the sixth episode set to debut on Sept. 6. The Season 1 finale will drop on Sept. 20. Season 2 will premiere in 2022.

The series stars D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Devery Jacobs, Paulina Alexis, and Lane Factor as four Indigenous friends growing up on a reservation in Oklahoma. Zahn McClarnon, Sarah Podemski, and Dallas Goldtooth also appear in Season 1.

“We couldn’t wait to share ‘Reservation Dogs’ with viewers and are thrilled that they seem to love it as much as we do. We’re happy to put in an early order for another season,” said Nick Grad, president of original programming for FX. “Sterlin Harjo delivered on his creative vision, partnering with Taika Waititi and the rest of the creative team, the brilliant cast and crew to create one of TV’s best new comedies and a groundbreaking showcase of representation and raw talent.”

I've never seen Entourage. Is it an good show?

Entourage is an American comedy-drama television series that premiered on HBO on July 18, 2004, and concluded on September 11, 2011, after eight seasons. The series was created and largely written by Doug Ellin and chronicles the acting career of Vincent Chase, a young A-list movie star, and his childhood friends from Queens, New York City, as they attempt to further their nascent careers in Los Angeles.

Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson served as the show's executive producers, and its premise is loosely based on Wahlberg's experiences as an up-and-coming film star.[1][2]

@godofwine

Watched the first 2 episodes of this series yesterday & also listened to the 1st episode of the popular podcast of the same name (had been meaning to do that previously). Enjoying it thus far. Joshua Jackson is good in the lead role (smug, sociopathic), Hubert Point-Du Jour as "Josh" is also very effective as the circulating nurse. Good to see Christian Slater in a supporting role as well. Fan of his work back in the 90s, but I haven't really checked out his projects the past 20 years. Going to keep watching & then listen to the rest of the podcast episodes afterward. The full season (8 eps) are now available.

Dr. Death is an American crime drama miniseries created by Patrick Macmanus based on the podcast of the same name that was released on Peacock on July 15, 2021.[1] The series consists of eight episodes.

Christopher Daniel Duntsch (born April 3, 1971)[1] is a former neurosurgeon who has been nicknamed Dr. D. and Dr. Death[2] for gross malpractice resulting in the maiming of several patients and killing two of them while working at hospitals in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.[3]
Duntsch was accused of injuring 33 out of 38 patients in less than two years before his license was revoked by the Texas Medical Board.[4] In 2017, he was convicted of maiming one of his patients and sentenced to life imprisonment.[5]

Ep 4 of Heels was the best 1 so far, really loving this show and the co-creators said they have a plan for at least 5 seasons which I'm hoping Starz will allow them to do. They're doing a great job building depth for multiple characters

Thanks - gonna check the episode later today. Agreed re: Starz hopefully allowing them multiple seasons to continue building the character & story arcs. They're off to a good start thus far.

Impeachment: American Crime Story This is everything i wanted from this series and more. It's actually making me recall everything that happened during and before the Clinton and Lewinsky Scandal. I remember the rumor of The Clintons having ties to Vince Foster's death.I remember one rumor in particular of Clinton telling the CIA to make Foster a memory. It's going to be interesting to see how much they cover in the following episodes.

Looking forward to seeing Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac together again in “Scenes From a Marriage The trailer for this i definitely had flashbacks of myself and a couple of ex's

Kin ...

Kin charts the lives of the Kinsellas, a small but tight-knit crime family embroiled in a war against a powerful drug kingpin, Eamon Cunningham. A boy is killed and his family embark on a gangland war with an international cartel – a war that is impossible to win. It’s David and Goliath. Out-numbered, out-financed and out-gunned, the Kinsellas find themselves holed up in their Dublin stronghold while their businesses fail, and family members and associates are picked off. But they have something the cartel does not: the unbreakable bonds of blood and family. Kin is a world where gangsters are treated like reality stars, with nicknames and celebrity status, where assassins dress up as women, and drug dealers keep exotic pets in their den. A world of drugs and guns and murder and loyalty and family and men…and a woman.

This looks good ...some good actors in it too ... ....luv tht gangster shit

def putting it in the trap ...

Into the Night
2020

8.5/10

This mofo is on point.

I went into it thinking how the fuck they gonna stretch this concept out to a series, I thought that it would seem better if it was a 2 hour movie. But they pulled it off right.

I'm not going to give any spoilers, just some general info.

The series is from Belgium and Netflix has it dubbed in English. It is only 6 episodes at 40 minutes and you can binge it one afternoon.

The SHTF 5 minutes into episode one and proceeds from there. All the major characters are introduced in episode 1. Episodes 2 thru 6 is character development and they do it with quick flashback stories of them just before boarding the flight. They only do a handful of passengers, they will do the rest in later seasons.

All the passengers and crews have prior drama which affects their behavior and performance. The quick flashbacks give you a general perspective on their characters.

If you like a lot of suspense, check it out.

Synopsis

When the sun starts to kill everything in its path, a plane full of passengers must travel at night in attempt to escape its destructive power and find some place safe.

Into the Night Season 2 | Official Teaser

The fight for survival has only just begun.

We go back Into The Night on September 8, only on Netflix.

Just finished season 2 of “Into The Night”.

It plays out slower than season one. Less suspense and the issue with the sun rarely comes up.

The season does more with character development and gives little backstories on some of the primary characters in the series.

For the militants, the sister with the Afro is thirsty for one of the White dudes. And he is thirsty for Black women. Nothing is shown.

Some insight on what is causing the deaths, but nothing confirmed.

Looking at how the last episode played out and in the last minutes, it looks like we will get some definitive answers in season 3 if it gets approved.

Looking forward to it.

Vigil

I like submarines and peeped the first episode.

Acting is good, tension and drama is there. First episode ended on a cliff hanger, so I'm looking forward to the next.

We checked out the pilot episode yesterday & enjoyed it. Have the next few episodes saved for the weeks ahead. Good assortment of characters - plenty of tension & well-paced. Some really good drone and helicopter shots too ... especially when you contrast them with the dimmer lighting while aboard the submarine.

Been enjoying Only Murders in the Building. Checked out episodes 3 & 4 this week. Lol @ the guest star they bring in. Martin Short is always funny to watch with his trademark movements and gestures.

Still enjoying Reservation Dogs ... only a few episodes left in the 1st season. It has slowed down a bit in recent episodes as the episodes have been more standalone & focusing primarily on 1 character, and not the group as a whole and surrounding characters. Still an enjoyable show though & already renewed for a 2nd season.

Not enjoying Ted Lasso's 2nd season as much as the first. The appeal with the 1st season was all the "fish out of water" moments. Too much of a romantic comedy feel at times now. Too predictable.

I know I am late but been watching Atlanta. Season 1 was good, season 2 seems like a experiment by someone who just graduated film school.

“The Queen’s Gambit” and “The Mandalorian” were among the big winners Saturday as the Creative Arts Emmy Awards were handed out in downtown Los Angeles, kicking off the last lap of Emmy season.

This year’s Creative Arts ceremonies, held in a tent on the L.A. Live events deck in downtown Los Angeles, will be split into three events over two days, on Sept. 11 and Sept. 12.

Good series it's one weak point is the chic who plays the queen.

Thinking about checking it out next year.

Currently watching - Heels, Vigil, Reservation Dogs, Only Murders in the Building, and Ted Lasso. Finish those up by late-Sept or sometime-October.

Gonna check out Survivor, The Wonder Years, Mayor of Kingstown, Dexter, and Yellowstone with their late-Sept and early-November releases next.
