Dorothy Counts at Harry Harding High School in Charlotte, North Carolina
When she was fifteen, on September 4, 1957, a Thursday, Counts-Scoggins was one of four black students enrolled at various all-white schools in the district. The harassment started when the wife of John Z. Warlick, an officer of the White Citizens Council, urged the boys to "keep her out" and at the same time, implored the girls to spit on her, saying: "Spit on her, girls, spit on her."[4] Counts-Scoggins walked by without reacting, but told the press later that many people threw rocks at her—most of which landed in front of her feet—and that students formed walls but parted ways at the last instant to allow her to walk past.

There is no doubt about it. She was 15 or 16 when this picture was taken. You can see the toll of emotional and psychological trauma this caused on her face. In that photo she looks like she could easily be twice her actual age. What I don't understand is why this community hasn't unleashed the internet on all those people. She's still alive there is a good chance many of them are as well. IMHO, they should be drug out and confronted for all this before it is too late.

... Cornrows were used to help slaves escape slavery?

“In the time of slavery in Colombia, hair braiding was used to relay messages. For example, to signal that they wanted to escape, women would braid a hairstyle called departes. It had thick, tight braids, braided closely to the scalp and was tied into buns on the top. And another style had curved braids, tightly braided on their heads. The curved braids would represent the roads they would [use to] escape.

In the braids, they also kept gold and hid seeds which, in the long run, helped them survive after they escaped.” They would also use seeds as decoration in the hair, but would later plant the seeds and grow their own crop. It is more than just a simple hairstyle.

Rosalie Willis and Charles Manson got married on January 7, 1955 at the Nazarene Church. At the time of their marriage, Charles Manson was a car repairer and a car thief and despite knowing this, Rosalie Willis stayed on and believed that her beloved husband would change. However, it was not to be the case and three years after marriage, Rosalie Willis filed for divorce.

Marilyn Monroe with Ella Fitzgerald at the Mocambo. A popular Hollywood night club at the time. That would not book Ella because of segregation. Marylin told the manager that she would reserve a front row table every night Ella performed there. Ella performed a week later. 1955

I’m calling bullshit with this one. How did the women explain to slaves far away this code? Also, corn rows require having lots of hair. Typically, slaves had short damaged hair from the sun. Plus, if they were just communicating to their immediate group, why not just tell them? This is complete nonsense.
