C'mon Hawks
No excuses now

What were you wrong about, fam?

I was very very critical of Kevin Durant responding to social media posts in general especially with the burner accounts

and then later with Michael Rappaport

And then recently he responded to Jackie MacMullen

I never said the people Kevin DID attack respond to (notice I initially wrote ATTACK when he was just defending himself)

(the actual people not tweets and potential bots)

but ACTUAL sports journalists and personalities. should NOT be reprimanded

I just wanted it to me MORE direct and with layers of managers leagues agents etc

Instead of HIM doing it personally

I thought he was ABOVE that and doing it too frequently.

But when I realized that in the specific case of Jackie...

that she had been talking reckless for AWHILE now

and that it was apparently a BOLD FACED MISREPRESENTATION of the facts...

I wanted a FULL on assault on the Ringer and her

not a tweet.

But I am wrong.

Its a little bit generational a little bit personal but

I realized last night

It was also racial.

No matter how much I try to be pro black and proud and unapologetic and raise my kids to speak up

When I saw that young black men responding defending himself publicly aggressively

I subconsciously ..

retreated into a know your place mode.

A carry yourself better black man you gotta be BETTER than them thing.

But when I heard this white man do essentially the SAME damn thing?

i realized I was being a hypocrite to a degree.

Cause if Kevin Durant or Kyrie or Dame or Westbrook etc had called into a show and did that?

I would have immediately fell into WTF is he doing?? he is so sensitive etc etc.

I had to really reflect on that last night

really.

And I had to tell those I was debating with I had a change of heart and why.

That's interesting self-awareness and assessment of yourself.

Personally, I am the type of picking battles and not wasting energy where it's not warranted.

Like any other person, KD has the right to defend itself against false information or personal attacks.

I don't go back and forth because it usually doesn't go anywhere, especially on social media. However, some don't mind it.

You're not wrong in thinking that KD can be BETTER than them by not engaging with people on social media. History has taught us we should be mindful of our words, but these are changing times.

KD is sensitive. There is nothing wrong with that. He's an emotional guy. There is nothing wrong with that. It seems to drive him to play better on the court. He uses this energy as motivation. I still think he acts like a whole bitch, though. But it really doesn't matter what I think of him.

"Knowing your place" has evolved to "knowing your audience" because if the end goal is to make the truth about yourself be known, then that's cool as long as you're talking to people that are willing to listen and not gaslight your words.

@largebillsonlyplease @Mack1052 @4 Dimensional

In my old age I try my best to admit when I need to reevaluate and review my opinions.

remember the KD stuff and him responding to tweets and sports journalists publicly?

I already conceded I was kinda wrong to label him so quick

whether or not I personally AGREED with his tactics and response

but I also have to admit at first I thought it was a generational thing.

but then THIS happened.

bear with me.

Last night on a run I was listening to sports radio and heard a white sports voice tell a story about getting into a bar fight when he was young

he claimed to have punched the drummer from Spin Doctors

laughs

awhile later who CALLS the STATION?

the f*cking drummer

his friend called him told him what was happening and he wanted to clear it up

a back and forth (rather pleasant)

but neither would LET IT GO

in the end apparently the host was WRONG BUT there was more

not necessary to go into details

What I want to share and admit is I was amused by this initially.

then I thought.

If KD had called into ESPN #greeny and did the SAME thing

I mean SAME THING

just called to say SOMETHING was NOT true

how would I and how would the AUDIENCE respond.

Bro, even at my age I fail to realize or is it admit?

How f*cking programmed I am - we are.

I had to share that cause if I didn't then I would be a sucker and I am many things, but I aint no sucker.

Ya'll were right.

(now some of his moves still irk me immensely, simply because I prefer ignorant face to face confrontation)

I respect that. Your from the "I'll see you when I see you" generation but most of these current athletes ain't. They move totally different

We are the same.

And even with my realization I still FEEL like that is how I MYSELF would handle matters.

But it's crazy that it was that random radio moment that had me reassess and take look at myself.

But it's 2021 it's not about me. This is how it is now

Cause I realized that I gave the drummer from the spin doctors more grace than Kevin f*cking Durant.

In a normal year, neither the Hawks or Bucks would be anywhere near a Finals appearance. This shit is awful. :smh:

I expected a Hawk team ready to fight to win and these niggas showed up.
