I use to drag niggas in that game growing up. Ain't played since 4 though.
Could have been a classic if the kept the tone of the opening, had some good fights and was probably overall better than the first, but the pointless main character and a shitty director/editor kept this movie from being that it could have been. Hopefully a part 2 will be better.
Kung Lao and Kano were pretty good.

I never said Scorpion, Sub Zero or Kung Lao weren't cool. Just that when you look at Kabal & how he moved, he was the most accurate to what we saw in the video game with Kung Lao 2nd

Only knocked it down because of Cole Young.. seriously? who the fuck is Cole Young? The only other casting I didn't really like was Raiden. Seemed to young to be playing an elder god. But they did good fan service and kept the movie entertaining.
Sisi Stringer's thick ass as Mileena was my favorite, and Kano was hilarious the entire movie

They "Finn'd" us all, with Scorpion/Sub Zero all over the marketing yet they are barely in the film. This film peaked in the first ten minutes. Completely changed direction, pike it was directed by the guy who did The Raid (Gareth Evans), then after the first scene, handed off to Paul W. S. Anderson (dude that makes those Resident Evil movies)....
Storyline was damn near incoherent.

And to top it off give him the most generic, boring background and the most obvious storyline I've ever seen. The actor looked bored to be in that role so why would we care? scorpion was intense and a complete bad ass.... So naturally we'll only feature him in about 11 total minutes of the movie, sub zero is near perfect, so of course relegate him to walking around making things cold waiting for the end fight. According to a youtube comment the director said a lot of footage was left on the cutting room floor. Rhis movie wasnt it. RELEASE THE MK CUT!

It’s hilarious cause this movie achieves what something no other movie does: it’s an campy kids movie with gore.
Let’s start with the good:
It’s Mortal Kombat and it needs to be excessively violent, which it is.
The fight scenes/choreography is very well done for the most part.
Sub-Zero is awesome. The way the movie utilizes him is really dope
Kano steals every scene he’s in.
Now the ok/bad:
This should’ve been a HBO/Netflix series. There are too many characters with too much backstory that they can’t get into.
Mileena is the adopted daughter of Shao Kahn and she’s dead. Her backstory is actually quite interesting but she’s reduced to the role of henchman.
I appreciate them trying to tell the story of Mortal Kombat in a different way than the many ways it’s already been told, but the fact that there was no tournament bugs me.
Goro being defeated not in tournament bugs me.
Shang Tsung and how he is portrayed bugged me.
And the biggest issue of the movie is the main character: he’s boring, his back story is boring, his “power” is OP and his fights are lame.
It’s not terrible but it’s not good either.

It was also shot very dark. In "some" fight scenes couldn't tell Sub-Zero from Scorpion. Shit so non-color corrected can't distinguish yellow from blue. Just black ninjas fighting.
