So, a sister I work with just had a great analysis of Meghan. She said the best assessment of her character and who she truly is can be observed in how she treated her family before and after the wedding.
Before the idea of becoming royalty even existed, Meghan distanced herself from her family when she landed her role on Suits. I'm sure family was hitting her up for money. That's a part of the game. But, how you handle it is an entirely different situation. Because black women were so enamored by seeing another black woman hit the hypergamy jackpot, no one stopped to question why was it that her mother was the only family member to attend the wedding??? Following last week’s heated argument on The Talk about Piers Morgan and his incessant criticism of Meghan Markle, CBS is now putting the daytime talk show briefly on hiatus in order that the network can “conduct an internal review,” per TVLine. The show’s Monday and Tuesday episodes have been canceled, but the show is reportedly scheduled to resume filming on Wednesday, March 17.
The decision follows last Wednesday’s dispute between Sharon Osbourne and co-host Sheryl Underwood about Piers Morgan over whether the British TV personality had been racist toward Meghan Markle during his years of public criticism of the actress, who is wife to Prince Harry. Telling Underwood, “Don’t try and cry, ’cause if anyone should be crying, it should be me,” Osbourne fervently defended Morgan, whom she is friends with, on The Talk and on Twitter, but later issued an apology. “I panicked, felt blinded, got defensive & allowed my fear & horror of being accused of being racist take over,” she wrote. “Please hear me when I say I do not condone racism, misogyny or bulling.”
Meanwhile, former Talk co-host Holly Robinson Peete, in response to her apology, accused Osbourne of racist treatment toward her, and implied Osbourne had a hand in Peete’s dismissal from the show. “I’m old enough to remember when Sharon complained that I was too ‘ghetto’ for #TheTalk…then I was gone,” the actress tweeted. “I bring this up now bc I was mortified watching the disrespectful condescending tone she took w/ her cohost who remained calm & respectful because…she HAD to.”
On Saturday, Osbourne denied Peete’s allegation on Twitter. “Never in my life did I utter the words that Holly was “too ghetto” to be on the Talk, as well as not having her fired,” she tweeted, along with a screengrab of an email, allegedly from Peete, seemingly placing the blame for her dismissal at the feet of their then-co-host Julie Chen, wife of disgraced former CBS CEO Les Moonves.

After CBS temporarily put The Talk on hiatus following Sharon Osbourne’s heated defense of Piers Morgan over accusations of racism earlier this month, the network announced Friday that Osbourne has opted not to return to the daytime talk show. “Sharon Osbourne has decided to leave The Talk,” CBS said in a statement, published by the Hollywood Reporter. “The events of the March 10 broadcast were upsetting to everyone involved, including the audience watching at home. As part of our review, we concluded that Sharon’s behavior toward her co-hosts during the March 10 episode did not align with our values for a respectful workplace. We also did not find any evidence that CBS executives orchestrated the discussion or blindsided any of the hosts.”
“At the same time, we acknowledge the network and studio teams, as well as the showrunners, are accountable for what happened during that broadcast, as it was clear the co-hosts were not properly prepared by the staff for a complex and sensitive discussion involving race,” the network’s statement continues. “During this week’s hiatus, we are coordinating workshops, listening sessions and training about equity, inclusion and cultural awareness for the hosts, producers and crew. Going forward, we are identifying plans to enhance the producing staff and producing procedures to better serve the hosts, the production and, ultimately, our viewers.”
