Isaiah Wilson arrested in high-speed chase before Tennessee Titans traded him

Isaiah Wilson, the embattled first-round draft bust, was arrested in Georgia for driving as fast as 140 mph with drugs in his possession two months before the Tennessee Titans traded him, according to a police report obtained by the Tennessean on Wednesday.

On Jan. 7, Wilson and a woman were charged with felony fleeing from police, possession of a schedule 1 controlled substance, marijuana possession, drug-related paraphernalia, reckless driving, reckless conduct and speeding in a construction zone, according to a Barrow County (Ga.) Sherriff's Office incident report.

The reporting officer, Stephen Kinney, recorded Wilson's speed in a 2006 blue Dodge Charger at 123 mph with a radar gun. Kinney chased Wilson's car and reported it reached 140 mph.

Police terminated the chase because of the dangerously high speeds. Wilson's car was later found wrecked 100 yards off the road. Wilson was arrested at gunpoint, according to the report.

No court date has been set. Wilson will appear in Georgia Superior Court because he was charged with felony fleeing from police.

Wilson, an offensive tackle out of the University of Georgia, was selected by the Titans with the No. 29 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He was an indisputable bust on and off the field.

Wilson played only four snaps in his rookie season. In September, he was arrested and charged with DUI three days before the season opener. Twice he was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. And in December, he was suspended for “violating club rules” and placed on reserve.

So this dude has wrecked two fucking cars in less then a year...

Good off field news from the NFL

Patriots OT Justin Herron Gets Honored for Saving a Woman from a Rape Attempt

There are times that call for you to put away the snark. When it's not right to reach for the joke. When it's best to put away the childish stuff about "We're so good our backup tackles are heroes" shenanigans and just celebrate young athlete doing something to make the world a better place.

This is one of those moments. And Patriots second year offensive tackle Justin Herron is that athlete:

Source - Tempe police held a press conference on Wednesday honoring two Good Samaritans who stepped in to stop a sexual assault at Kiwanis Park in Tempe on Saturday.
The suspect, who has been identified as 30-year-old Kevin Caballero, was seen pushing the 71-year-old victim to the ground and attempting to remove the woman's pants, police said.
Two men intervened in the attack and detained the suspect until police could arrive.
"If not for the swift actions of Mr. Justin Herron and Mr. Murry Rogers, this vicious attack could've been much worse," Tempe police Detective Natalie Barela said.
Justin Herron is an offensive tackle for the New England Patriots and is in Arizona for offseason training. Rogers is a Phoenix resident who happened to be in the park that day. Neither knew the victim prior to the incident.
The Tempe Police Department presented Rogers and Herron with Outstanding Service Awards on Wednesday.
Herron said he heard screaming that made him aware of what was going on and said he knew at the moment that he had to get over there.
"At that moment, I was in shock," Herron said. "It was 11 a.m., middle of the day, in a very open field and the fact that it happened there at that time was just very shocking. I wish I could tell you what I was thinking, but I could just tell someone needed help. All I could do was rush myself over there to make sure I could help the victim and I could comfort her and be the best person I can be."
As much as I think we can all appreciate the gesture by the Tempe Police Department, I think a couple of Outstanding Service Awards should only be the beginning. Murray Rogers and Justin Herron deserve the Nobel Peace Prize just for not tearing this psychotic sex predator apart limb by pervy limb. We don't know what this Kevin Caballero looks like, but Herron is 6-4, 308. At 25, he's in his physical prime.

He played at Wake Forest before turning pro so he could fight with the likes of Frank Clark, JJ Watt and Joey Bosa for a living. I'm guessing a sick fuck who derives sadistic pleasure from attacking senior citizens isn't prepared for the world of hurt Herron and this other citizen could've inflicted on him. The fact they settled for subduing him and contacting the police shows a level of restraint that needs to be recognized.

That said, you know your organization is having a good few weeks when your players are out preventing sexual assaults and maybe even saving a life. Prayers to this elderly woman as she recovers from a trauma that has to be awful. And godspeed to Murray Rogers and Justin Herron. Now somebody throw this guy in a dungeon and snap the key off in the lock.

Cowboys' McCarthy on Prescott: 'He's the keystone of this football team'
Matthew Lenix

March 26, 2021 12:09 pm
Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy took the podium for the first time in a long time on Thursday. The head man in Big D went over a plethora of topics that included Dan Quinn and the defensive scheme, free agency, and the status of offensive linemen Tyron Smith and La’el Collins.
The biggest news about the Cowboys this offseason, or the entire NFL for that matter, was the long-awaited contract extension of Dak Prescott. After nearly two years and three rounds of negotiations, the Cowboys and Prescott agreed to a four-year deal worth $160 million. McCarthy was very candid when he was asked about his reaction to having his franchise quarterback signed long-term.
“I was actually in Florida when the deal was finally completed,” McCarthy said. “It’s a lot easier to do cartwheels on the sand. I’ll say that. Rich is having a hell of a visual over there right now. I was obviously very excited. He is definitely a keystone of moving forward as a football team. I was very excited about that. He was just finishing up his workout on the field as I walked in here. He’s making progress and he’s on course. I’m excited about year two of the offense because frankly in a lot of ways we feel like we really didn’t get to have year one. We’re excited about what we can do this year with a healthy offense.”
The coronavirus pandemic flipped the NFL world upside-down. It shut down normal protocol for the league’s offseason activities. Teams were forced to communicate virtually with limited OTAs and training camp access. With a full offseason with Prescott in 2021, McCarthy talked about how the players and coaches need time to gel and how Prescott is a regular at the team’s facility.
“We have a lot of ideas but until we know the schedule we don’t know exactly how we can go about it. We’re in a virtual mindset and how that’s going to look, that’s to be determined. Dak lives here. He’s here every day.”
“He’s the keystone of this football team. That’s the way I view it. That’s the way we’re going to push forward with it too. The quarterback touches the ball every play. But also, his presence and his natural leadership ability is something that will continue to grow. I think you’ll see that in the locker room.”
Prescott may have only played in five games in 2020 but he was on an insane pace. He led the NFL with 1,856 passing yards and was completing 68% of his passes (highest of his career) through his first four contests. Wide receivers Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and CeeDee Lamb were all on pace for 1,000-yard seasons.
Prescott’s injury didn’t come in the pocket but rather while he was using his legs in Week 5 against the New York Giants. He suffered a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle. The Cowboys won that game, but went 4-7 the rest of the season and missed the playoffs.
McCarthy doesn’t feel Prescott should be hesitant going forward even with his injury but does think he has to be more cautious.
“I don’t think he needs to be lowering his shoulder and stiff-arming maybe as much. Jerry probably wants him to run out of bounds every play. I think he’s got to be a little more mindful of it. You don’t ever want to tell a player, I don’t ever try to make a statement to a player that would make him hesitate because hesitation in the NFL is you’re a full step slower than the opponent and it can put you in a worse position.”
The return of Prescott puts the Cowboys right at the top of the NFC East. In 2021, they’ll look to make the playoffs for the first time since 2018.
