Dick Cheney is dug in deep with establishment Republicans who fund the party. He has a lot of influence there. A political party runs off of money and Cheney can cut that flow off. Trump was able to get around being a poor fundraiser because of right wing media but I think those days may be coming to an end. The Dominion Lawsuits are putting fear into them. He's been exiled from Twitter which he used as free advertising.

The reason why the GOP wants to fuck up the $1400 is that
it is a very powerful weapon at the polls. If the Democrats curb
eligibility, they may lose the House and the Senate; if they do
not, and especially if they increase the amount, the prospects
look really bright. Already, in the middle of the winter, the
news on covid is sounding much better. The numbers are now
starting to fall. If the Democrats beat covid, reopen the economy
and pay $1400, they win the polls next year.

Meh. The people getting the raise would spend all of the money
before they even got it. This would be a tremendous shot in the
arm for US economy, and cause a spurt in economic growth. The
numbers show that whenever US workers get more money, the
US economy does better. The increased demand from the pay
increase would create more jobs...

Such presidential declarations are typically routine after major disasters and similar aid requests by Oregon and California — which experienced even more destruction last fall — were approved by Trump administration officials in short order.
The latest FEMA aid package will specifically support nine counties and two tribes in eastern Washington. In a statement, Inslee acknowledged it was a long time coming.

"It was hard on us, it was definitely punishing," said Scott Hokonson, a town councilman. "If that was its intent, it definitely had an effect."
Hokonson, who also lost his home in the fire, has been serving as the town's recovery coordinator. He says the delay further eroded residents' belief in government.
"When people lose trust and faith in elected officials and people trying to help, it becomes more and more difficult each day," Hokonson told NPR.
Eastern Washington leans conservative and Malden had lately become one of the few communities in the region where housing was still deemed affordable. Most of the fire survivors are lower-income, elderly and have little or no insurance.

There was supposed to be a process for majority of the firings under trump. We see how he ignored them all
