I don't understand how Christians can be for executions. I'm not religious so it doesn't play a part in my thinking but it doesn't make sense for people who state that only God can judge me.

It's a deep mental exercise that has been reduced to tribalism. Is it punishment or deterrence? If the purpose of capital punishment is to provide deterrence so that type of crime doesn't happen again, why continue it if it is demonstrable that it doesn't provide deterrence?
