Points of interest.

  • Very strong UI, quick, plus 4K/HDR
  • New system wide settings
  • Rest mode extraordinarily efficient using only 1.5w
  • Runs cooler than Series X
  • Very quiet
  • Has HDMI 2.1 but presently missing a few features, plus no 1440p output
  • Max power draw so far is Miles Morales at 200w (less than Gears 5 on XSX, and only slightly higher than God of War on PS4 Pro)
  • DualSense feels revolutionary
  • 3D audio interesting and additive, not a game changer
  • 667 GB of usable storage

Can't use expandable SSD's at launch Sony confirmed. Sometime in the near future. There working that out. In the meantime the best thing to do is to store your PS5 games on an external HDD for additional space. Now you can't run them from the HDD because of the speed needed to play PS5 games so you'll need to transfer it to the PS5. So the HDD will serve as a storage hub for now so to speak until Sony approves expandable SSD cards.

Pretty much Q. I can't defend this bullshit at all. This should have been handled by now and the SSD cards for expandable memory ready to roll out.

From a gaming standpoint though both systems could have waited. Neither are hitting it out the park with opening lineups.

I never buy game consoles at launch and you listed the main reasons which includes software issues and gaming library. I like let others test it out then once the bugs are ironed out and the game library expands that's when I buy a console. I know both Sony and Microsoft gonna come with it but it takes time.

Sidenote:
I am still going for the PC master race. I will get a gaming rig.

 Yeah, lots of people say the same thing. Now word is you can't even switchyour PS5 games to an HDD to free up space. :smh: Terrible job by Sony at launch. They better get the expandable SSD slot running and make the ones we can use for the PS5 avaliable ASAP!!

And it's fucked up because Activision refuses to compress COD. Shit is taking up a huge chunk of hard drives. You would think it's a Rockstar level game.

Yeah that's crazy. I saw a video on a review that said there should be a firmware update on launch day that will at the very least allow you to store PS5 games on a HDD so you can free up space to play if needed it until the SSD expandable storage is ready. Still a bad job by Sony with this.

Bruh, in all honesty, that's why I stopped fucking with Sony.

So how do we get more storage? Can't use an external hard drive like in the PlayStation 4

Also, I was going to wait to get mine until maybe February or March after the bugs worked out of the first batch. Is that a good idea or should I just fucking get it when I can?

At least if you get it now you will be ahead on the firmware updates. Those of us who will wait are just going to have to plug up the system and wait until all the updates are loaded. The only hardware issue I do see as @jack walsh13 mentioned was the storage issue.

Their release lineup is weak. I'm gonna wait just because of that.

So there is no truth to the belief that the first batch of systema released have bugs, bugs that can't be fixed with a patch? Red ring of death and shit?

Every new gen system always have a weak release lineup. This been the norm since forever.

And a lot of people stay they will wait because of bugs. The truth is the next updated model will be years away. I purchase PS2 on release day and I didn't have any issues with it.

I think you can use regular external drive on ps5 but only for ps4 games

I only heard this on a YouTube video this Asian guy David lee I think
Could be he was wrong since nobody else has mentioned this

otherwise you have to wait
Mark cerny said this back in March
That external storage for ps5 games won’t be up at launch

Here it is

Now that I’m reading this
If you currently have all your ps4 games on the internal drive like me (2TB)
Having an external drive for ps4 games is a must now
Since the ps5 internal drive is like 6xxgb of usable space

so keep only ps5 games and ps4 games you play a lot on the internal ps5 drive and keep the remaining ps4 games on external drive
That’s that make sense?

Here’s even more info

You act like you have a choice on waiting or buying now

I do have a choice. Right now, their lineup of games doesn't impress me so I'm going to wait. They are going to be "rare" upon release so I'm going to be waiting for a little while anyway.

I'm going to get it, I'm just going to wait want them to have some games and I'm actually interested in playing, which is likely sometime in 2021

I'd say get it when you can. Your a good dude and you deserve to play Spider-Man immediately. Far as storage goes apparently on the box it does say you can store PS5 games on an HDD according to reviewers who already have the console but it's not available this very second. A day one firmware update should solve this problem, as there is an update on launch date. So at least you can switch back and forth on an HDD if you need it. Hopefully the SSD will be available soon

Not really. With updates and things like that you really don't have to worry about things like ring of death or bad systems. Still get the warranty, but these new systems gon be alright. Neither system has killer launch lineups, but that Spiderman is the truth.
