True mentoring that I am referring to is actually going into these schools and neighborhoods and giving back. Teaching our youth about how to be financial literate, how to improve your public speaking skills, teaching them science/technology, teaching about their history that goes beyond knowing about Malcom and Martin, and I could go on and on.....
Again, that's real mentoring and I will say I have seen kids who are living in WARD 8 in SE DC with some of the worst up bringing imaginable do a 360 when they see someone who looks like them Care and provide guidance.

I agree with your perspective of what “true mentoring” is. I’m not going to try and argue semantics of mentorship.
I’m merely pointing out what I am observing. Those type of guys have influences and platforms, which young minds consider them mentors. We can say they ain’t mentors, but some influential mind can say they are and it become less about what we think.
