I'm not sure about the overall effect of the Lincoln Project. It could have helped or could have hurt. It could have helped by keeping a few of the potty-trained republicans from voting. I think it's possible it helped the Dems by encouraging them, showing them it's possible to swing some votes even it it didn't. It's possible it helped Trump. Showed the base that the educated elite of the party was against Trump, further endearing him to them.

People put their money where their mouth is. Suburban families put their votes where they believe it’s going go best suit them. Before you ask “Why” you should first figure out the “Who” in the equation.

That is not entirely true. There are many states that vote by mail and are fully equipped to handle a “surge” of mail in votes. Pennsylvania is not a state accustomed to a surge in mail in votes. As the pandemic was ravishing the nation during the primary season the republicans were asked to help the general election season. They opted not to do anything. The president and the mail general took steps to undermine not only the mailing apparatus of the nation but voting too.
