Joe Biden is now POTUS

i just went home for the weekend.

the gop is running a full court press of commercials to depress the black vote. the commercials are awful but dudes that don't know shit will believe them. they are running those commercials all day and night. apparently it is working. imagine if the coons and agents were able to run commercials here. that is what is going on.

Are any of the commercials online and is any of the local news outlets reporting against them?

Depends on the state. Even with early voting, people were waiting up to 11 hours. Folks with kids and health conditions can't do that. You also have people who work night shift who can't work, then stand in line 4+hours.
Not every state or employer acts in good faith, so guaranteed time off would help these people.
I know every state is different but when states have weeks and various hours to vote vs one day to wait in line, it just doesn't make sense to me to wait until election day.

California, Oregon, and Washington State all decided to share strict public health guidelines. Now these three states have some of the lowest new infection rates in the country. Could Biden use Congress to give federal funding to any state who enforces the same regulations?

I think he could absolutely use money as an enticement, just like Trump tries to use it (illegally in most instances) as a punishment. There is no guarantee states are going to do the right thing tho. What he has the power to enforce should they not want to comply, and the ability to entice them into going along with, are different things tho.

This! If you have the option to vote early for damn near a month, who in their right mind waits until the final day. 30 days of voting and you let 29 get by you? With shorter lines at that? :smh:
That's what I'm saying. Early voting polling places here in FL were open all week and on weekends, 7am to 7pm.

There should be no excuse for long ass lines here in FL.

As Camille said, every state is different, but at the same time, with early voting polling places, people have had ample opportunities to vote early and not have to wait for Election Day.

i didn't look for them online.

and i was only home for 2 days. so i don't know if the local news stations addressed them. but funny enough the commercials were running heavily during local news broadcasts.

I have a bad back and am high risk for covid. I waited too long to request a mail in ballot (my fault) and went to the polling place to ask about the wait in line twice before I actually voted. There was no way I was going to do 2-3+ hours. I guess I could have brought a chair but my polling place is always light so I would have voted tomorrow if I couldn't have done it early, but I was expecting the lines to let up after the initial 1st week rush, and they never did. Normally for early voting it's 30 min tops. The 2-3 hours here is in an area not trying to suppress the vote, just high turnout. The third time I saw the curbside voting sign and voted that way. Other places are not so lucky.

I am happy to see some places do what they can with mail in voting, early voting, curbside, 24 hours etc, but 11 hour lines are intentional. Most work days are only 8-9 hours. I know everyone was told to plan their vote, bring meds, snacks etc, but it's just not convenient for everyone. Not everyone has a baby sitter. If they bring kids with them, chances are they will need a restroom breaks etc.

People shouldn't have to take half a day to vote and if they are going to have to do it, then by all means make it a federal holiday. Not all people will need it, but have the protections in place for people who do.

I understand what you are saying about early voting in person. Early Voting has been open for a month and no secret in this Town. There was a small line out of the library to main street almost everyday. So even if you did not know , You would have to see the line . But it was weekday only and closed at 4pm. So daytime working people would still have trouble. Vote by mail is the only thing that will help those people.

Are you insinuating that 10+ hour wait times and voter purges aren't normal in other western democracies? :smh:

Australians attempting to vote early this morning faced lengthy lines at the polling booths - with waiting times at some stations around the country blowing out to more than an hour.

Voters took to Twitter and the ABC's live election blog to complain about long lines.

"Worst year set up for voting. Was there for nearly an hour," Laura Mousley wrote.

Jean said the line at Mount Lawley Primary in Western Australia was "getting ridiculous but everyone is happily soaking up the sun".

I had an Australian friend in college who was shocked by seeing our voting system in person. I didn't believe her when she explained that you most polling places have a bbq and you get a "democracy sausage" after you vote.

Let's not forget, four years ago.....Although everything says Biden wins.....

Learned my lesson. If not for Covid, the Mrs. and I would be in Maui right now. I was NOT tryin to be on the mainland this week... But since I already had the time off... Got plenty of whiskey, food, and all my bills are paid. I dont have to see anyone I dont want til next Monday...

Just wanted to get a post in this thread because it has the potential to have some sad faces. Too much posting from a bias source has people overly optimistic.
