Here's something that's been bothering the hell out of me with options. The above is a screen shot i got today(9/1) for NIO. If i'm reading this correctly for the very first call it reads

1) Strike price of $15.00
2) Premium price to purches it at 4.70*100 or $470
3) Exprires 9/4

If that's correct then why the hell wouldn't i buy that call right now with $NIO being at almost $20 dollars? The contract expires in 3 days...

WHAT AM I MISSIN?

A lot can happen in 3 days

Why wait 3 days? My understanding is you can close the position on your option at anytime before the expiration date. If that's correct then why not buy this contract and dump it a few minutes-hours later and profit of the strike price minus the current stock price?

You can sell the contract. I thought you were talking about exercising it. Either way you’re risking a lot for a small gain. Say it stayed at $20 and you exercised it at $15. You paid $470 for that option. So you risked $470 to make $30. That’s not a good risk to reward ratio.

Isn't that the general trend with the majority of options contracts? The risk/rewards is always going to look terrible. The premium you pay for the contract is always higher than the potential reward...no?

Depends on you and what you consider a profit. Is $20 good enough? $50? $200? For me im looking to make at least 200-300 (more really lol) per contract and in this case that would me NIO going up to about $22 by Friday. Using that logic I've watched contracts go for a slight $50 profit to losing most or all of the premium i paid for the contract by expiration. So again its depends on you and what you expect from the 470 price that you are paying.

Not really. I paid 350 for an Apple contract yesterday and sold it for a 350 profit today. The likelihood that Apple would go up $4+ on the week that they split was much higher and less risky than a volatile NIO stock.

Possible? Yes.

Probably? Nope.

Look at the Market Cap, % Held by Institutions, and the Short Interest. With this split, they now have the backing of millions more retail investors who have been dying to get a piece of the action. If TSLA crashes, then the entire market crashes.

Markets are being propped up by the feds

They wont be able to print forever...

Is that a premium you found weeks-months in advance of the Apple split?

I wish. That same contract would have been like 1200 last week but thanks to the split options prices came down too and I bought at opening bell yesterday. I was eyeing a slightly out of the money option last week but my risk tolerance wouldn't let me drop 1200 lol

Yeah ... I holding APPL until after it announces it's new products and software in a couple weeks and TSLA until after battery day ... bought a few more options on the pull back today

AAPL bringing out the new 5g phones. Should be a good run up, which hopefully leads to an even better earnings call(s).

That's exactly what I'm hoping for!!! Only skepticism I have is that it's already reported that Apple will have a delay in the delivery of some iPhones ... not sure how the market will react that news once buddy gets on stage let's folks know the shipping dates

After doing a bit of research I came across a company called Honeywell International Inc. (HON). About a week or 2 ago their stock was at $156. Today it closed at $167.97. Might be worth taking a look at.

Or maybe it's one of those stocks that's gone as high as it will go. I'm still trying to figure this shit out mayne :dunno:.

They just got added to the DOW.

I had to google what that meant. You think they're worth keeping an eye on?
Yes

My watchlist for today:

PM-
$FLDM (I'm buying the dip)
Update...many bought in at high price. Many are holding the bag...lowering the price. I would just watch for now. Ran to $12.45.

Options
$CRM - I expect it to Gap up/Down and sell off a bit at open and then it will run. I'm going to wait the first couple of mins and try to see if you can get a decent contract further OTM. (Cashed out)

$MSFT 225 Calls 9/4 - This stock has been running, both AMD and MSFT have been lagging and now it looks like the stock is moving in anticipation for J Powell. (didnt pull the trigger)

$AMD 90 Calls 9/11 (didnt pull the trigger)

$HON 09/11 175C - My risky play. I think there will be increased buying on this stock just like CRM had a gain, CRM had an additional catalyst which was their earnings. (Waiting for things to settle)

Watch for these 3 stocks; if they weren't on your radar...$CRM should at least be intriguing enough to add these to your watchlist $HON and $AMGN.

Honeywell is also doing N95 mask production. The government has said that they want to increase N95 mask stockpiles.

$SHLL was good to me yesterday. I couldn’t trade because I didn’t have any settled cash so I didn’t even look at my Webull or E*TRADE until I got off work and was pleasantly surprised. My apple is rolling and my $SHLL is doing fantastic with talk of the merger around the corner. I took profits from 19 to 39 then bought 80 more shares at 37. I’m hoping it runs to 100 at the least when the merger date is announced.

What do you guys think about AstraZeneca plc ($AZN)? They are the pharma company that is working with Oxford university on their corona virus vaccine. Saw them on the news last night, which reported that as of yesterday they went into phase 3 trials on 30K test subjects, and are said to be the most promising solution in testing right now. I haven't seen any big volume on them yet, which is suprizing to me considering the news blast on it. Their stock is at $55.00 right now.

$CAR, someone posted that this stock goes up and down $2 every day or every 2 days. Check out the charts. If you catch it right, you could make a nice gain each time until the pattern changes.
