I've posted pics of my yard in a lawnmower thread..... green and stays green..... I be pissed at the houses on either side of me.... weed filled with knee high dandelions.... African owns a new house like mine on one side.... he'd be happy living in a fucking cargo container at port Newark with his Benz 4 x 4 parked outside of it... I gotta call the city on him every year otherwise he won't make his first cut till Memorial Day or later... and won't do another one till August... :hmm:

Absolutely hate dandelions. I had to manually pick all of them up which took days to eradicate them from my yard.

what area you live in and the type of grass you have?

New Jersey, right next to Newark.... I forget the kind of grass... I put sod down like 17yrs ago when I brought my house.... about 35% of it's been taken over by local grass.... I gotta put down that Scott's weed n feed every year cause of shit owners next door... shit is like $39 a bag... I gotta cut my shit twice a week if we get a lot of rain …. the other side of me has a bank owned five family with like one tenant in it for more than two years... Deutsche Bank owns it... :hmm:

I hate dandelions and unfortunately also have a damn bush that still has roots deep within my front yard so I manually have to pull them up as well when they randomly pop up. I need to get some weed n feed for my lawn that will also prevent fire ant hills from popping up.

I cut and trim very regularly, and occasionally fertilize. However, I do not use weed killer or pesticides. That stuffs terrible for the environment. If it grows green in my lawn its welcome to stay.

Bruh dandelions will fuck up a yard. I had a big infestation and it took a lot of manually pulling it and hated when you pull up the plant with the weed tool and part of the root break off.. lol

Timely thread, my lawn is in such poor shape. I plan on burning my lawn in about 3 weeks. I've got pine straw, weeds galore, poor soil, poor sunlight.

After that a good weed and feed, a good soaking then follow that up with a good quality seed. The soil is also low on nitrates I'm hoping burning the lawn will help increase its level.

If anyone has any other suggestions please respond.

I know that frustration all too well. I deal with that in my front yard area where I have lavender and rosemary planted. That damn bush be randomly sprouting up lil mini bushes in random locations along with them dandelions. Get the plant but the roots be like uh uh uh not yet

Seed and fertilizer repeat and repeat...Overseeding and fertilizer kills the weeds.

Dandelions has nothing on creeping Charlie. Got it from my neighbors and it took over my yard 2 years ago. I’m using tenacity on it but it will be a few years to kill it off.

You try hot water?
Yea I’ve tried almost everything.

Borox and weed killer was most effective but killed my grass too. Tenacity works but I’m going to try and hit it every 2 months this year. It came back last year but I did the application in the summer. Spring is suppose to be better time to hit it.

What type of grass you have and area of country

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad told me that it better to have your lawn sprinkling up with green, than to have green coming out of your peen. :smh:

Make sure to cut your grass at 3 1/2 or higher.

Why you should “Mow High”

1) There is a one-to-one relationship between the height of the grass and the depth of the roots. When you mow at 2 inches, you will have 2 inches of roots. When you mow at 4 inches, you will have 4 inches of roots. The height of the grass drives the depth of the roots.

In areas with winter weather, you probably have cool season grasses like Kentucky bluegrass and ryegrass. These should be mowed at 3 1/2 to 4 inches. For areas with warmer winters, you need to know what kind of grass you have. If you have St. Augustine or bahia grass, you mow at the same higher level of 3 1/2 to 4 inches. If you have Bermuda or zoysia you mow at 1 1/2 to 2 inches.

OK so can I get a time frame on this process? As I said I'm new at this.

You have 2 options with a yard that bad.

1. kill off everything then resod your yard.

2. Follow Scott’s yard plan.

Aerate and overseed in the fall. Then the next spring start aerate, overseen, and fertilize every spring and fall.
