They aren't happy unless they're bringing somebody down with them--Regardless of what that person's doing , good or bad. They take all that pent up frustration and self-loathing, and take it out on people that they don’t have to answer to every day. That way, they can talk all the shit they want, with no consequences. Why? because they honestly have nothing better to do. They have nothing of their own to speak of and they're truly ashamed of it. So they paint your life in a negative light just so they can tell themselves "Well...I know MY life is fucked up, her hers is worse.". They aren't happy until they believe that there's someone worse off than they are, be it true or not.
