I recognize that they’re only trying to create confusion at this point. You’ll even see this behavior from otherwise intelligent posters like Camille and Fonzi. But why is the question? Is there an agenda? Or is something more subjective, or emotional, at work?
You're shelving a whole movement because a few people a BGOL dont talk niceWhat overseers? Another trigger word I normally only see from white folks and Berniebots. I only have discussions about this on BGOL. I see tweets in passing. But I don't engage over it.
The negative impression comes from what is said by people on here promoting ados.
Y'all taking on the tone of white supremacists that don't understand the difference between black power and white power. You always have radicals on the fringe but black power is mostly about empowering ourselves, uplifting each other, celebrating black excellence, black networking. White power is always about denying rights, denying access, looking down on black folks and other minorities. Black power involves dominance over and command of oneself. White power involves dominance and power over others.
So when I see comments like this:
It's less about uplifting ones own, and more about denigrating others. You're using a white playbook and somehow don't even realize it. Non American actors getting roles over American blacks is a valid concern. How does that make them filthy and hideous when they do so?

You're shelving a whole movement because a few people a BGOL dont talk nice
For the last time, ADOS/FBA isnt a club or group you join. It's a distinct label for the people who built this country from 1619 to present who have a specific claim that is owed.
Damn you're right.People who dont support reparations never admit it. They always say they for it then nitpick some BS to say why they dont support. All the push back we've gotten the last 6 months I havent seen one admit they against it yet. Somebodys lying. Just like all CACs will claim they not racist, but...
Ive never seen Camille speak fully throated for ADOS or reperations. She described herself as "basic domestic" black but calls other blacks in the diaspora "exotic" and worries if we hurting they feelings. Even ADOS can practice non ADOS supremacy unfortunately.
When did I say "non ADOS are filthy and hideous" Camille? You reaching.
You didn't but when you and soul were directly asked if you signed that nonsense you refused to answer. You also were making comments about mulattos you've yet to explain. I don't know if you are using that as a biracial slur for modern black ppl or actually saying the children resulting from the rape of black slaves are not ados and somehow a problem.
yes lets push anti-african xenophobia anti foreign black sentiment , foreign black dehumanization in every angle possible, have no political action group to push for our demands, indirectly deplete the voter roll(hence give republicans even more judgeship seats and policy making power to erase decades of little progress made) under a bullshit guise of "black NATIVIST empowerment, push for neo-nazi like policies against especially BLACK foreigners in hope we will get a bigger pie and the world will lift and love an respect us in turn ,
.....and so if u attack any of our nefarious tactics we can frame it as, and claim that, its becos u must be anti-reparations.. ..... ... so transparent so transparent!
..sound very right-wing faux news to me ,,. if u dont accept israel treatment of its neighbors u must be anti-israel and anti-jew! got it !
... . if u criticize trump or america ..u must hate america!
but if u criticize democrats or obama ..it must be becos u to make america great!! it cant be becos u want a better way to get things done!! GOT IT !.
how is lying and making intentionally deceptive xenophobic fear mongering narrative a gateway to reparations again?
how is a creating a deceptive false narrative tha a tiny 3% of a body of black people is responsible for the ills of the black society and must be stopped at all cost?..... how long b4 it leads to walking up to and stopping random said 3% of black folks on the street and asking for their "papers" in america ( if u dont think it will happen then u havent been paying attention!)
... hey.. but if we purge them (as one op said) we will magically be granted reparations by those merciful white supremacists, if we attack pan-africans that will magically give us reparations
... but whos checking anymore
..clowns to the left of me ..jokers to the right...here i am

Peace to the brothers who made these posts. These women are beautiful, appreciate all the work yall have put in on the board the last 10-20 years @Lexx Diamond @Mask @Duece
It is my dream in the future when Foundational Black American models are posted on BGOL, their nationality will be used to describe them just like these beautiful women. Right now when black American women are posted their nationality isnt really stated or recognized. Hopefully the momentum of the ADOS FBA movement the next 10 years will help change that. We are a proud people just like our Haitian, Jamaican, Trini, Grenadan, Nigerian, Eritrean, etc. family.![]()
There's nothing more "anti-African" than the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
Where in America have these "xenophobic" ADOS stopped spending money with non-ADOS? Fear mongering wont help you Bobby.
And ADOS hasnt called for massive deportation or more border patrol, just said immigration aint our fight. Thats between yall and them white folks. You're so worried and paranoid about being seperated from white daddy here in the US its hilarious. Mofos cant imagine life if they cant live here. The "immigrant drive"
The Democratic Party isnt ADOS problem. Theyre their own. ADOS gave them a free ride for 50 years and only went at the GOP during elections. Were you crying then? No you werent. This is the first election cycle blacks are vetting Democrats in half a century and yall are whining like lil bitches how unfair it is. Boo hoo!

Yeah, I know. I’m not following my own advice. I guess I still want to think there are some people who simply don’t get it and need to be educated about it. They ask questions and say they want answers, then you give them answers and they deflect into something else. Or just start talking some “Russian bot” or “ADOS is telling black people not to vote” shit. Then they will start asking them same questions over again. Or you’ll even see them in another thread rehashing issues that have been addressed.
I recognize that they’re only trying to create confusion at this point. You’ll even see this behavior from otherwise intelligent posters like Camille and Fonzi. But why is the question? Is there an agenda? Or is something more subjective, or emotional, at work?
We have an opportunity to to position ourselves as a moral authority in opposition to America's hateful practices, similar to how the Jewish community has. We can advocate and acquire resources for our community, while advocating for other PoC.
We have all these studies about how children will be affected even with counseling. For a few months of abuse vs the centuries that we endured. Do you ever recall any slaves being sent to therapy? Joy brings that point up in her Post traumatic slave syndrome presentation.
Anytime the black community seeks assistance it is seen as begging. We have an opportunity to change the narrative and demand from a position of strength to be compensated for ongoing abuses to fix issues in our community caused by this country's treatment of us. I can bet you almost anything these immigrants are about to get PAID via numerous lawsuits.
When you are advocating for someone else it is always viewed more favorable than when it appears you are only vested in self interest.
I can't be the only one who sees the potential possibilities in this. The president just got finished with an infomercial for racial hatred covered on all the news networks. With social media there can be pushback and gains for our own community.
"Trump is doing ABC. This causes DEF. We know because it happened to us. We need to stop him from doing this to (whomever the target of the moment is). We need healing in our community still. GHI is what we need. " then lobby for what we want.
I can't be the only person who thinks like this. I don't know the details of how to organize and make it happen, but I see the possibilities to do the right thing AND help our communities come up in the process.
Again sorry for any typos.
This is what. Was trying to explain to @soulonice the other day. This is how black folks should be speaking out against this. We can be against this policy, remind folks how we were affected and STILL being affected, but then I would add, advocate for our community while advocating for theirs. Remind this country that our community is broken because of America's policies, and ask for resources to make it right from a position of moral authority and repairing damage done rather than a position of what white folks see as begging and trying to promote white guilt. The nuance is subtle, but it's there. Every time a black person speaks on this they should be tying it to what was done to our community, to remind folks this is not new and that the effects are still ongoing.
SMH. Like I said: keep thinking that.
Very well said. I've been trying to make these points for years. We can't take the position that we can't help or defend others for fear they will surpass us in some manner or because we get some sort of satisfaction from seeing some other than black folks suffer. We should be standing against injustice and for what is right regardless of who is involved. They are using immigrants to set precedent to be used against all of us.
We all know how black folks were dehumanized and treated. What is going on now might not be on the same scale as what happened to us, but it is still wrong. None of us would be ok standing for weeks at a time like some of the folks in these camps.
Folks who want reparations can advocate for their cause using immigrants. They aren't experiencing a tenth of what black folks did and we are being told they will never be right again. We can have the moral highground, stop these injustices, and at the same time publicize what was done to our communities, how we were and are still being affected, and ask for what we need for wholeness and healing. Most white folks hear reparations and think free handout. It's an opportunity to use immigrants to educate and advocate for reparations for black people. They don't hear us when we are asking for ourselves. They see it as begging. We have to act from a stronger position. We have the position but I don't see anyone using it.
People are buying into this white mindset that if one group gets a win, or just breaks even, we all lose. We can't buy into this thinking. They can win on their issues and we can win on ours too. We are all facing and fighting WS but now we have black folks ready to let some fall on a different front simply because they are a different race and this didn't used to be the case. We are losing our moral standing if we are ok with the mistreatment of others by this government. We won't be taken seriously as being against mistreatment or WS if we are ok with other groups being subjected to it. Both Jews and Japanese have come out against these camps.
Also Trump and co isn't JUST targeting Mexicans right now. They are coming for all groups at the same time. We can't be so short sighted and focused on the individual incidents that we can't see the big picture.
I'm not a movement type person. Other than BLM, which I supported but didn't actually attend events, I'm just not built for following. I'll take wisdom from anyplace, but I don't assume that because someone is wise in one area they are wise in all things.
I don't have the patience to watch all those youtube videos, if it's not in written form, I normally don't seek it out. There are certain things that just stick out as red flags so I don't usually get caught up in the first place. Most black folks used to be the same way, certain words and triggers used to be an auto rejection, but there are actually groups out studying us and how we respond, and using things we agree upon to suck folks in before gradually changing to more divisive rhetoric.
I am all for putting black folks first, but any ideology telling me to concede power by not voting or voting in a way which will not keep those who are actively trying to harm us (the GOP) out of power is nonsense. Anything telling me I have to hate xyz to get ahead, or I can only win if xyz loses is division and the basis of WS used to fearmonger white folks, and I'm not for it. Anything that tells me I can't have compassion for others or speak out against hate and injustice because the target isn't a black person, all the while expecting outside groups to have compassion for us and do right by us, is nonesense.
I don't want to turn into my oppressor. I don't want to see black people with callous hearts. We can look out for ourselves and stand against hate in all forms at the same time. It's not an either or situation.
I'm not against reparations, but whether or not we ever get them, there is other work that needs to take place at the same time. If black folks want the backing of politicians for stuff like this, we need to PAY to play like the other groups do. We don't financially back candidates en masse. Hell we can't even agree on candidates. Ppl are looking for perfection that doesn't exist.
I can find a superpac, multiples, for every issue or group that folks on here complain about making progress. Women. LGBTQ. Immigrants. Last I searched, I found one superpac for black issues, and I couldn't find a way to donate or detailed info. We want to hate the players, but don't want to learn or play the game. If we want the results others get, we have to organize, lobby and spend like other groups. Politicians see us showing up as begging instead of demanding our money's worth. Even when it comes to just voting we don't use our votes properly when it can make a difference, during primaries. In the general it's too late if we don't want the GOP to maintain power and strip our rights and protections when they have it.

Lol@ otherwise intelligent. Thanks, I guess.
Perhaps you missed the introduction to ados on this board so let me give you a lil rundown.
We were told by folks, who had formerly said for years they don't vote because voting doesn't matter and both parties are the same, that they would not vote for any one who was not pro reparations and were encouraging other people not to vote and posting Tariq videos like they were gospel.
Naturally, I found this alarming. We have ongoing voter suppression efforts and messaging targeting black folks in an effort to get us to sit out as it is. I have said multiple times that I do not have a problem with reparations and that we are long overdue to get paid, even though I don't know what the end result would look like. I'm also all for supporting candidates concerned about your issues and pushing them to commit. If you vote dem, however, the time to do this is turning primaries. Once a candidate has emerged, and it's dem vs GOP, it is stupid, imo, to concede power and let win the one group we know will actively seek to destroy and oppress us.
we were told by ADOS supporters that both parties are the same and dems shouldn't feel entitled to our vote and they might just vote GOP. Ok fine. So what part of the GOP platform speaks to our issues and is beneficial to black folks? Crickets. So what GOP candidate has expressed support for reparations? Crickets. So which GOP candidates are you targeting to gain their support? Crickets. Why aren't you lobbying the GOP also? The GOP- who we were told earlier are the same as dems (now follow THIS logic), won't go for it. (They are the same tho.)They also aren't for contributing money to get access like other groups do while hoping for the same results.
Ok. So if you aren't voting in dems, who imo would be able to be persuaded, and you aren't lobbying the GOP, how does this make it into legislation where we get our reparations? SHUT UP AND STOP HATING ON ADOS! WHY DONT YOU WANT US TO GET REPARATIONS? YOU'RE AN IMMIGRANT AND YOU HATE US AND THINK YOU'RE BETTER THAN US AND DON'T WANT TO SEE US GET AHEAD! SHOW ME YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND BILL OF SALE FOR YOUR GREATGREATGREATGREAT GRANDFATHER!!!
Now I am ADOS, but in between all this were comments and slights made toward some of the non-ADOS menfolk here who have been contributors to BGOL and members in good standing for years, who ALSO all said they support us getting reparations and understand it would be for U.S. blacks, but that anything telling us to shit on each other and not vote should be closely examined.
Then it pops up that the Yvette chick they keep quoting is part of an anti dem conservative think tank who just so happens to think withholding votes to teach dems a lesson is just a grand idea.
Then we see the rhetoric about getting rid of black immigrants, dissing legal black folks who come from elsewhere. The mess over the black actors and all the other nonsense. I realize that that could be simply individuals speaking out but when we have folks calling British Born blacks, possibly our cousins as many ADOS who made it to England stayed behind in freedom, "filthy and hideous" and crickets from all these ADOS supporters when asking if they support this sentiment, we have a problem. None would say they didn't agree with it, they would only say THEY didn't say it. Attitudes flow from the top. Just like I took issue with Bernie not getting his BernieBros in check when they were attacking black folks on social media and he didn't rein them in and just like we hold Trump responsible for the corruption in his administration because he allows and encourages it, I hold the folks pushing ADOS responsible if they are not checking and pushing back on hateful, dehumanizing rhetoric against other black folks.
Then there is the stuff with the illegal immigration. I have said REPEATEDLY that I don't care if we deport folks or not. However inhumane treatment, dehumanizing rhetoric. The same things done to us, even if not to the same extreme? I can't get with that.
I've spoken repeatedly in the past how we can parlay advocating against mistreatment of immigrants into reparations for ourselves numerous times. I've spoken about how we need superpacs for black issues to be an influencer like other groups:
Immigrants are not only Latino. We have folks saying the immigration issue doesn't affect us but we have black immigrants also. So when we have ICE stopping folks asking for citizenship, they will be stopping us - you know the black Americans that look just like the black immigrants. I've already shared Peter Brown's story here. He is a black ADOS American detained and almost deported to Jamaica. ICE agents won't be acting in good faith. They aren't checking for white or fair skinned illegals. This will just be another vehicle to harass black folks. People want to talk about statistics indicating so few people being affected, but getting caught up, assuming you don't die in the conditions, can cause loss of job, home and children. One black American detained or deported is too much. Most folks are one paycheck away from homelessness. They are destroying entire lives. Trump is breaking law to do most of the stuff he does, and possibly using black sites. Just like they can be disappeared, WE can be disappeared. These folks are so short sighted they don't see that we are one step and shade away from the Mexicans that CURRENTLY have Trumps attention. Trump has Chicago dog whistles also, designed for black folks. The Mexicans are safer to attack for the time being tho, and since we have black folks and other groups who hate immigrants too, less push back. Making Trump follow the law with the least of these makes us all safer. They need to be held accountable.
Now I realize dems are not perfect, but without the ACA, I would have been dead a couple of years ago. When I disappeared for over a year it was after my health crisis. I only got insurance again because my job offered it to everyone as a result of the ACA. I got back it about 1-2 months before I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Dems are also for uncoupling healthcare from employers. The only reason I'm at my same job now is because I need the insurance. Dems are for combating climate change, and as it is getting harder and harder for me to breathe each summer, and we are having all these natural disasters, that also is important to me. They are for a living wage. Against police brutality. For affordable college education. For having a safety net during hard times. For eliminating private prisons. Against chemicals in our food that can cause cancer and other diseases. For holding companies accountable that fleece consumers. For making sure women get paid fairly. They are anti-fracking, and pro job training to reskill folks. I have a full thread here of all the stuff the GOP has tried to roll back. Most importantly, dems don't pass laws and legislation at the national level designed to fuck with me and make my life harder. They basically leave me alone. Do we still have issues at the local level? Yes. The answer is to get involved and have your voice and perspective heard, not sit it out. Would I like to see more progress? Yes. Since we aren't going to get it without an overwhelming dem congress and dem president for more than 12 months at a time, I'm ok with a party that is just going to leave me the hell alone and keep the other GOP monsters at bay.
Folks think Trump's open racism is good. That knowing who the enemy is is good. We've always known who the enemy is. And they aren't coming out to confront us in daylight, they are doing their deeds in darkness, normally against black women and children, which further endangers me. Give it time tho. We are going to get 2.0 of this if Trump doesn't tone it down:
The only thing Trump is doing that might benefit us IS getting rid of illegal immigrants, but he is doing that to keep America white, not because of how they affect our economy. Prisons are already renting out convicts to pick crops and I believe the backlash of this anti immigrant rhetoric is going to come back harder on our community than anyone else's. We are allowing precedent to be set that may be used against us, and we are ok with it because we get to see a different shade of brown suffer for a lil bit. You may think all this is reasonable and good, but I can extrapolate what happens with the variables we have now. Aside from prison reform which others championed while he simply went along with it, Trump hasn't done anything for us but not mess up the trend Obama started us on with jobs and unemployment, but that's going to blow up soon.
So like I said, any negative view I have is based on how this is being presented on here. Its obvious that one of the main people posting the most tweets is not forming his own thoughts, he is simply parroting the words of others, so I don't expect much, but there has to be a better way to do this that doesn't involve shitting on other black folks, becoming savage and cold hearted like our oppressors, or giving up power and doing the work of white supremacy by targeting other minority groups and encouraging black folks not to vote.
many of us are more than willing to let Trump and the GOP run wild. We're already in the gutter and in the struggle, and they'll just have to join us until they learn to stop trying to hustle us.
Okay, you've said more than a mouthful! I doubt I can address it all but I'm going to try to touch on each point.
My personal introduction to ADOS didn't come from this board, but there are people here who are ardent followers and disciples of Tariq Nasheed, which I am not. I think King Taharqa is and I recall arguing with him on a number of occasion about Tariq's content. So the outright "don't vote" types are highly influenced by Tariq. But the general idea is to LEVERAGE our votes. In primaries and the general election. If a candidate hasn't presented an agenda that has real-world benefits specifically for Black Americans, then why should we vote for said candidate? What sense does that make? What sense it make for us to vote for a candidate who is promoting an LGBT agenda or a pro-immigrant agenda? Most of us are not LGBT and we're not immigrants!
You say "let win the one group we know will actively seek to destroy and oppress us". This is a key difference between those of you who are pro-Dem and those of us who are pro-ADOS. We think the Leftist/Dem agenda is just as vested in marginalizing and destroying Black America as the GOP is. I can't stress this enough. They are just as dangerous to us as the GOP!! And perhaps more so, because we've been led to believe that they're somehow on our side. The wolf in sheep's clothing, as Malcolm X talked about. Benign neglect. And immigration is one of the primary weapons they're using to marginalize is.
Black people aren't part of the GOP base. But we are a significant part, at least 25%, of the Dem electorate. If we vote as an organized unit, we can make or break Dem candidates and the Dem agenda, particularly in certain areas. For example, Dems don't win swing states like Pennsylvania without black turnout in Philly, Pittsburgh, and other cities. It only makes sense for us to attempt to influence the party where our vote wields influence.
Yvette is only one person, and yes she's highly influential in the ADOS movement since she help coin the ADOS name and hashtag and is active on social media. But she isn't the only person. What you're overlooking is that many of us believe we have been betrayed by the Democratic Party, beginning at the very least with the Clintons and their crime/incarceration policies (where Biden was a key figure) and culminating in Barack Obama's singular failure to address the massive loss in wealth in Black America during his administration. Obama, and Kamala, deserve a separate discussion, since they're Manchurian candidates. But we put these figures in office, voting at rates above 90% at times. What has been the pay-off? What have we gotten back for this? Yvette, along with Cornel West and a few others, was one of the first to begin actively asking these questions, when it wasn't popular to do so.
Immigration in general and Black immigrants: This has been a long-simmering issue. People hopping off the boat and automatically being placed on a higher social tier than the "********" in America. Even though they wouldn't be in the country if it wasn't for our struggle. And many in turning adopting (or bringing over?) the same contempt for and discrimination against Black Americans that white people have historically displayed. You keep speaking as if this is a one-way street; as if a sudden xenophobia is coming from Black America towards people who were friendly and inviting to us. For many of us, that hasn't been our experience. Anecdotally, I went to a college that was only 5% black, but half that black population was non-ADOS, so I know how a lot of those West Indian/African motherfuckers can be. So now we're asking ourselves, how has immigration benefited US? Those of US who are native Black Americans?
The "filthy and hideous" comment came from Megatron X, who is a known provocateur and one who has routinely disparaged immigrants in every insulting way he can. It's been part of his general schtick. Not really our place to address it. But the general sentiment is that having numerous Black American roles, particularly historical roles, being played by non-Black American, non-ADOS actors, is a problem. If numerous Black Brit roles were being taken by Black American actors, then Black Brits would complain too. If Black American actors were all up in Nollywood, then Nigerians would complain. And in particular, some of these actors have expressed mocking contempt for Black Americans and/or role with people who do. See Cynthia Erivo and Luvvie. But our historical experiences, worldview, heroes, and lineage, aren't worth acknowledging and being respected?
The whole notion of black-is-black is effectively over. But they ended it. We're simply reciprocating. They're free to assert their separate, national identities and cultures, but they need to carry that all the way. Fight white folks on their own, as we've had to do. Don't be "Jamaican" or "Trini" or "Naija" or whatever when you want, and "just black" when they start getting that white supremacist foot in their asses. Fight white people as blacks and as immigrants. See how fun it will be. Carry that shit all the way, while they laugh at the lazy Black Americans.
You're pushing an emotional, guilt-based argument. But the reality is that the LGBT/pro-immigrant/DACA shit has MINORITY support amongst white Americans. Dems in general only get about 40% of the white vote. They do not win without our support! And if they do not support us, many of us are more than willing to let Trump and the GOP run wild. We're already in the gutter and in the struggle, and they'll just have to join us until they learn to stop trying to hustle us.

But we were told by ADOS supporters that both parties are the same and dems shouldn't feel entitled to our vote and they might just vote GOP.
I've spoken in the past about how we can parlay advocating against mistreatment of immigrants into reparations for ourselves numerous times. I've spoken about how we need superpacs for black issues to be an influencer like other groups and how I only found one with no info on how to donate to it:

My man wrote 8 paragraph and your ass nitpicks one huh? This is where your whole plan fails. Republicans are working to put in place things that will block your agenda 100% for 40 years no matter when you decide to get off your asses and do s0mething.
you let Trump get 4 more years. the supreme court will be 7-3 conservative AT LEAST and even if you get everything you want, have the entire house, senate, and president vote for reparations, the supreme court will say "lol no. now go sit your ass down an go back to sleep"
and not even just the supreme court. trump is packing all of the courts with young right wing judges with life time appoinments.
so you are basically checkmating yourself.
now Queen T will probably respond to my post with some shit I won't read. I haven't read any response of his in weeks.

So it's safe to say the other ones you agree with?
